This surplus arises from the RBI\u2019s various operations and is transferred under a set mechanism called the <strong>Economic Capital Framework (ECF)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>not a tax<\/strong>, but a <strong>non-tax revenue<\/strong> for the government.<\/li>\n<li>The dividend helps the central government meet its fiscal needs, including managing its budget deficit and spending requirements.<\/li>\n<li>The transfer amount is determined <strong>after the RBI sets aside provisions<\/strong> to maintain its financial strength and absorb risks\u2014especially via the <strong>Contingent Risk Buffer (CRB)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Why Did RBI Earn a Higher Surplus in 2024-25?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1.
