{"id":33942,"date":"2018-10-30T15:03:07","date_gmt":"2018-10-30T09:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=33942"},"modified":"2018-10-30T15:03:08","modified_gmt":"2018-10-30T09:33:08","slug":"first-industry-built-pslv-by-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/first-industry-built-pslv-by-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018First industry built PSLV by 2020\u2019\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sci-tech\/science\/first-industry-built-pslv-by-2020\/article20535383.ece\"><b>\u2018First industry built PSLV by 2020\u2019\u00a0<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is preparing to hand over the entire gamut of launch vehicle manufacture to domestic industry by 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Introduction:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Till now, public and private industries have only supplied devices, components and sub-systems for ISRO\u2019s launch vehicles, including the PSLV and the GSLV.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISRO already has a partnership with private industry to produce satellites.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IRNSS-1H communication satellite aboard the ill-fated PSLV C-39 was the first to be produced by a consortium of six companies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISRO had a partnership with about 500 domestic industries for the supply of various components and devices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About 80% of the cost of launch vehicles and 40% of satellites are handled by these industries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISRO had tightened tolerance to error following the failure of the PSLV \u2013C39 mission.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reusable launch vehicles promise to bring down launch cost but pose a problem for industry due to lower demand.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISRO stress on need for industry to reduce the manufacturing and material cost without compromising on quality to bring down the launch cost.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>About ISRO:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is the space agency of India headquartered in the city of Bengaluru.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its vision is to \u201charness space technology for national development while pursuing space science research and planetary exploration.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018First industry built PSLV by 2020\u2019\u00a0 Context: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is preparing to hand over the entire gamut of launch vehicle manufacture to domestic industry by 2020.
