Source: latestnewsandupdates.com\" width=\"365\" height=\"396\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> The <strong>Strait of Hormuz<\/strong> is a narrow waterway located <strong>between Iran and Oman<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It connects the <strong>Persian Gulf<\/strong> (north) with the <strong>Gulf of Oman<\/strong> and the <strong>Arabian Sea<\/strong> (south).<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0The strait is the only sea passage that allows the Persian Gulf waters to reach open waters (Indian Ocean).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Importance:<\/strong> It is widely regarded as <strong>one of the world\u2019s most strategically vital maritime choke points. <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is located near the Arabian Peninsula, which holds the<strong> largest reserves of oil and gas globally.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Roughly <strong>30% of the world\u2019s liquefied natural gas and 25% of its crude oil are transported through the Strait<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Around <strong>21 million barrels of oil per day<\/strong> passed through it in 2022 \u2014 that\u2019s about <strong>one-fifth of the world\u2019s oil trade<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Major oil-exporting countries like <strong>Saudi Arabia, Iran, UAE, Kuwait, and Iraq<\/strong> rely on this route.<\/li>\n<li>It is often called the <strong>\u201coil artery of the world\u201d<\/strong> because of its vital role in global energy supply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Regulation:<\/strong> According to <strong>UN maritime laws<\/strong>, each country controls up to <strong>12 nautical miles (approx. 22 km)<\/strong> from its coast.
