{"id":340974,"date":"2025-06-20T17:28:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T11:58:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=340974"},"modified":"2025-06-20T17:28:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T11:58:16","slug":"ins-arnala","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ins-arnala\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Arnala"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> Indian Navy has officially commissioned INS Arnala, its first Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam.<\/p>\n<h2>About INS Arnala<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_340975\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-340975\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-340975\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Source-PIB-3.png?resize=410%2C275&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Source-PIB-3.png?resize=300%2C201&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Source-PIB-3.png?resize=768%2C514&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Source-PIB-3.png?w=897&amp;ssl=1 897w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-340975\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>first of the sixteen<\/strong> Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (<strong>ASW SWCs<\/strong>) delivered to the\u00a0Indian Navy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Manufactured by:<\/strong> It has been <strong>designed and constructed<\/strong> by <strong>Garden Reach Shipbuilders &amp; Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata<\/strong>, under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with <strong>L&amp;T Shipbuilders<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Naming:<\/strong> The warship has been named after the historic <strong>Arnala Fort off Vasai in Maharashtra<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>77-meter-long<\/strong> warship, with a gross tonnage of over <strong>1490 tonnes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>largest<\/strong> Indian Naval warship to be propelled by a <strong>Diesel Engine-Waterjet combination<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Capabilities:<\/strong> It is designed for a broad range of <strong>Anti-Submarine operations<\/strong> such as &#8211;\n<ul>\n<li>Sub-Surface Surveillance and Interdiction<\/li>\n<li>Search and Rescue Missions<\/li>\n<li>Low-Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Equipments:<\/strong> The ship is <strong>equipped<\/strong> with <strong>advanced underwater sensors<\/strong> such as &#8211;\n<ul>\n<li>Hull-Mounted Sonar <strong>Abhay<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Underwater Acoustic Communication System (<strong>UWACS<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<li>Low-Frequency Variable Depth Sonar (<strong>LFVDS<\/strong>) &#8211; making them capable of comprehensive <strong>underwater surveillance<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>The need for ASW SWCs<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The Indian Navy plans to <strong>deploy all 16 ASW-SWC vessels<\/strong> to safeguard India\u2019s <strong>sixteen major ports<\/strong>, establishing a robust <strong>anti-submarine shield<\/strong> along the coastline.<\/li>\n<li>These ASW vessels will <strong>replace the ageing Abhay-class corvettes<\/strong> that entered service with the Indian Navy in <strong>1989<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Importance<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The commissioning of INS Arnala not only reinforces India\u2019s <strong>defence capability<\/strong> but also highlights the triumph of indigenous design, engineering, and manufacturing, realising the vision of <strong>Aatmanirbhar Bharat<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Indian Navy has officially commissioned INS Arnala, its first Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam.
