{"id":341224,"date":"2025-06-24T16:03:18","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T10:33:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=341224"},"modified":"2025-06-25T11:30:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T06:00:09","slug":"ins-tamal-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ins-tamal-2\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Tamal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>bNews:<\/strong> The Indian Navy is all set to commission its latest stealth multi-role frigate INS Tamal on 01 Jul 2025 at Kaliningrad, Russia.<\/p>\n<h2>About INS Tamal<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_341225\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-341225\" style=\"width: 354px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-341225\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Source-PIB-5.png?resize=354%2C427&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"INS Tamal\" width=\"354\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Source-PIB-5.png?resize=249%2C300&amp;ssl=1 249w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Source-PIB-5.png?w=737&amp;ssl=1 737w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 354px) 100vw, 354px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-341225\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>eighth stealth multi-role frigate<\/strong> in the series of<strong> Krivak class frigates<\/strong> inducted from Russia over the past two decades.<\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>second ship of the Tushil Class<\/strong>, which are the <strong>upgraded versions<\/strong> of their predecessors, <strong>Talwar and Teg classes<\/strong> having three ships each.\n<ul>\n<li>India is also building <strong>two similar frigates<\/strong> called the <strong>Triput class at Goa Shipyard Limited<\/strong> with transfer of technology and design assistance from Russia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Motto: <\/strong>The ship\u2019s motto is \u2018<strong>Sarvada Sarvatra Vijaya\u2019 <\/strong>(Victorious Always Everytime).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Features of INS Tamal<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>125 m long<\/strong>, 3900-ton stealth warship.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Built by:<\/strong> It has been built at <strong>Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, Russia<\/strong> but has 26% indigenous components<strong>. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Equipments: <\/strong>It is upgraded with &#8211;\n<ul>\n<li>Vertically launched surface-to-air missiles including the <strong>BrahMos long-range cruise missile<\/strong> (both at sea and land)<\/li>\n<li>Heavyweight torpedoes<\/li>\n<li>Urgent-attack anti-submarine rockets<\/li>\n<li>Surface Surveillance Radar complex<\/li>\n<li>HUMSA NG Mk II sonar<\/li>\n<li>Air Early Warning and Multi Role helicopters, which can operate from the deck of Tamal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Naming:<\/strong> The ship\u2019s name symbolizes the <strong>mythical sword<\/strong> used for <strong>combat by Indra<\/strong> &#8211; the King of the gods.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mascot:<\/strong> The ship\u2019s mascot is inspired by the congruence of the \u2018<strong>Jambavant\u2019 <\/strong>the Immortal Bear King of Indian Mythology and the <strong>Russian National Animal<\/strong> &#8211; the <strong>Eurasian Brown Bear<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>The ship\u2019s crew collectively takes great pride in calling themselves the <strong>\u2018The Great Bears\u2019.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It will join the \u2018<strong>Sword Arm\u2019<\/strong> of the Indian Navy, the Western Fleet, <strong>under the Western Naval Command.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>bNews: The Indian Navy is all set to commission its latest stealth multi-role frigate INS Tamal on 01 Jul 2025 at Kaliningrad, Russia.
