Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>SDG Index: <\/strong>The SDR uses a comprehensive set of <strong>indicators and data points to<\/strong> evaluate each country\u2019s performance which is used to provide an <strong>SDG Index score (0\u2013100).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>2025 edition:<\/strong> It is the <strong>10th edition<\/strong> of SDR since its inception in 2016 (first edition).\n<ul>\n<li>The 2025 edition introduced <strong>new indicators<\/strong> and provided an evaluation of which <strong>countries have made the most progress<\/strong> on the SDGs since 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key Highlights of Sustainable Development Report (SDR), 2025<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>India: India<\/strong> has for the <strong>first time<\/strong> secured a place among the <strong>top 100<\/strong> out of 193 countries.<\/li>\n<li>India ranks <strong>99th<\/strong> on the 2025 SDG Index with a score of <strong>67<\/strong>, while China ranks 49th with 74.4 and the US 44th with 75.2 points.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India\u2019s neighbours:<\/strong> Bhutan takes 74th place with 70.5 points, Nepal ranks 85th with 68.6, Bangladesh 114th with 63.9 and Pakistan 140th with 57 points.\n<ul>\n<li>Maldives and Sri Lanka, stood at 53rd and 93rd places, respectively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Global scenario: SDG progress<\/strong> has <strong>stalled at the global level<\/strong>, with <strong>only 17 per cent<\/strong> of the 17 targets <strong>projected to be achieved by 2030.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Toppers: The Nordic nations<\/strong> continue to top the SDG Index, with <strong>Finland ranking first<\/strong>, <strong>Sweden<\/strong> second and <strong>Denmark<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A total of <strong>19 out of the top 20 countries are in Europe.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>East and South Asia<\/strong> have <strong>outperformed<\/strong> all other global regions in <strong>terms of SDG progress<\/strong> since 2015 largely due to rapid socioeconomic development.\n<ul>\n<li>Nepal (+11.1), Cambodia (+10), the Philippines (+8.6), Bangladesh (+8.3) and Mongolia (+7.7).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Others:<\/strong> Benin (+14.5), Peru (+8.7), the United Arab Emirates (+9.9), Uzbekistan (+12.1), Costa Rica (+7) and Saudi Arabia (+8.1).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Among G20 nations<\/strong>, Brazil (25) ranks highest, while Chile (7) leads among OECD countries.<\/li>\n<li>The top three countries most committed to the <strong>UN multilateralism<\/strong> are Barbados (1), Jamaica (2) and Trinidad and Tobago (3).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Five targets show significant reversals<\/strong> in progress since 2015 &#8211; obesity rate (SDG 2), press freedom (SDG 16), sustainable nitrogen management (SDG 2), the Red List Index (SDG 15) and the Corruption Perceptions Index (SDG 16).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: India has secured a position among the top 100 countries in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index for the first time.
