{"id":341405,"date":"2025-06-26T11:03:04","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T05:33:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=341405"},"modified":"2025-06-26T11:03:04","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T05:33:04","slug":"amended-bharatnet-program-abp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/amended-bharatnet-program-abp\/","title":{"rendered":"Amended BharatNet Program (ABP)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News- <\/strong>Gujarat became the first state to implement the Amended BharatNet Program (ABP) under a state led model<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>About Amended BharatNet Program<\/h2>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;border-collapse: collapse;border-style: solid;background-color: #f5fcfa\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Background<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Government of India initiated the BharatNet project in October 2011 under the <em>Ministry of Communications<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>This ambitious initiative seeks to <em>deliver affordable high-speed internet connectivity to all Gram Panchayats<\/em> across the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li>The Union Cabinet approved the Amended BharatNet Program (ABP) on 4th August 2023, to be <em>funded by the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN)<\/em>.\n<ul>\n<li>DBN is a fund created to enhance the quality and reach of telecommunications services across India. It was introduced by the Government of India as a successor to the <em>Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF).<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>This updated plan aims to provide optical fiber connectivity using MPLS technology to 2.64 lakh Gram Panchayats in a ring topology.<\/li>\n<li>It will also <em>extend internet access<\/em> to about 3.8 lakh non-GP villages <em>based on demand.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key features of the Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><em>IP-MPLS (Internet Protocol Multi-Protocol Label Switching) network<\/em> with routers at Blocks and GPs.<\/li>\n<li><em>Operation and maintenance<\/em> for 10 years.<\/li>\n<li><em>Minimum 25 Mbps download speed<\/em> for each FTTH subscriber.<\/li>\n<li><em>Last-Mile Network<\/em> to be implemented through BharatNet Udyami model.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News- Gujarat became the first state to implement the Amended BharatNet Program (ABP) under a state led model.
