PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The Aluminium Vision Document<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The document lays the foundation for a <strong>globally competitive<\/strong> and <strong>environmentally responsible<\/strong> aluminium industry.<\/li>\n<li>Key goals outlined in the Vision Document:\n<ul>\n<li>Scale up aluminium <strong>production six-fold by 2047<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Expand <strong>bauxite production<\/strong> capacity to <strong>150<\/strong> million tonnes per annum (<strong>MTPA<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Double<\/strong> the national aluminium <strong>recycling rate<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Adopt <strong>low-carbon technologies<\/strong> for sustainable production<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen <strong>raw material security<\/strong> through targeted policy reforms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Future demand:<\/strong> Aluminium <strong>demand<\/strong> in India will rise <strong>six-fold by 2047<\/strong> and to meet this demand, India must ramp up production from <strong>current 4.5 million tonnes per annum<\/strong> to nearly <strong>37 MTPA<\/strong> over the next two decades, which will need an additional <strong>investment of over \u20b920 lakh crore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Status of Aluminium production<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bauxite<\/strong> (a sedimentary rock) is the primary ore of Aluminium.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India<\/strong> is the <strong>world\u2019s second largest producer of aluminium<\/strong>, it accounts for just <strong>6% of global production <\/strong>pointing to a massive untapped potential.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Global production<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>World production of aluminium was at 67 million tonnes in <strong>2022<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>China<\/strong> continued to be the leading producer with a share of about <strong>60%<\/strong> which is followed by Russia (6%), Canada (4.47%), UAE (4%), India (3.46%) and Bahrin (2.39%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Copper Vision Document<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> It aims for a <strong>six fold increase<\/strong> in <strong>demand by 2047<\/strong> and outlines plans to <strong>add 5 million tonnes per annum of smelting and refining capacity by 2030.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus:<\/strong> It focuses on <strong>scaling up secondary refining<\/strong>, enhancing domestic <strong>recycling<\/strong>, and <strong>reducing dependence<\/strong> on open-market <strong>imports<\/strong> by securing overseas mineral assets through global partnerships<\/li>\n<li>It lays the foundation for a sustainable, resilient and future-ready copper ecosystem for the country.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Status of copper resources<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>India: India<\/strong> is <strong>not<\/strong> self-sufficient in the production of copper ore.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Distribution in In India:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"218\"><strong>States (%age)<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"592\"><strong>Copper rich region\/ Famous mines<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"218\"><strong>Rajasthan (52.25%)<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"592\"><strong>Khetri-Singhana<\/strong> <strong>belt<\/strong> in Jhunjhunu district, <strong>Kho-Dariba area<\/strong> in Alwar and <strong>Delwara-Kirovali<\/strong> in Udaipur.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"218\"><strong>Madhya Pradesh (23.28%)<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"592\"><strong>Malanjkhand belt <\/strong>of Balaghat<strong> and Kherlibazar-Bargaon <\/strong>area of Betul<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"218\"><strong>Jharkhand (15.14%)<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"592\"><strong>Singhbhum<\/strong> district<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Global reserves:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>The world reserves of copper are assessed at <strong>1000 million tonnes<\/strong> of copper content.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chile<\/strong> has the largest share, accounting for about <strong>19%<\/strong> of world reserves, followed by <strong>Peru (12%), Australia (10%), Russia &amp;
