{"id":342603,"date":"2025-07-10T18:13:36","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T12:43:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=342603"},"modified":"2025-07-10T21:57:40","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T16:27:40","slug":"hazardous-and-other-wastes-management-and-transboundary-movement-amendment-rules-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/hazardous-and-other-wastes-management-and-transboundary-movement-amendment-rules-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has recently notified the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2025.<\/p>\n<h2>About Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2025<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_342614\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-342614\" style=\"width: 475px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-342614\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-DTE1.png?resize=475%2C312&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-DTE1.png?resize=300%2C197&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-DTE1.png?resize=1024%2C672&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-DTE1.png?resize=768%2C504&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-DTE1.png?w=1316&amp;ssl=1 1316w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-342614\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; DTE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>The Rules are released under the <strong>Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They will come into force from <strong>April 1, 2026.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They <strong>amend<\/strong> the existing <strong>Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Key provisions<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>New EPR framework:<\/strong> They introduce a <strong>comprehensive Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)<\/strong> framework for <strong>non-ferrous metals<\/strong>, including <strong>aluminum, copper and zinc and its alloys.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>They will be a significant step toward <strong>circular economy principles<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recycling target:<\/strong> The rules establish a <strong>recycling target structure<\/strong> that progressively increases from <strong>10 per cent in 2026-2027 to 75 per cent by 2032-2033<\/strong> for products made of <strong>non-ferrous metals. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Coverage:<\/strong> The framework covers an extensive range of products, from <strong>beverage cans and packaging foils to electrical fittings and furniture.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Online portal:<\/strong> An online portal will be established by the <strong>Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This portal will serve as a <strong>single point for data collection<\/strong> and will manage <strong>registration<\/strong> for all entities involved in the non-ferrous metal waste <strong>ecosystem<\/strong>, including\n<ul>\n<li>manufacturers,<\/li>\n<li>producers,<\/li>\n<li>collection agents,<\/li>\n<li>refurbishers, and<\/li>\n<li>recyclers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It will also facilitate the <strong>filing of half-yearly and annual returns<\/strong>, the fulfillment of <strong>EPR obligations<\/strong>, and the <strong>transaction<\/strong> of <strong>EPR certificates<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Producers<\/strong> can meet their <strong>EPR targets by purchasing these certificates<\/strong> from registered recyclers through the <strong>online<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Validity<\/strong> <strong>of the EPR certificate:<\/strong> They shall be valid for <strong>two years from the end of the financial year<\/strong> in which it was generated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has recently notified the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2025.
