{"id":342641,"date":"2025-07-11T16:16:37","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T10:46:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=342641"},"modified":"2025-07-11T16:16:37","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T10:46:37","slug":"ins-nistar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ins-nistar\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Nistar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> The Indian Navy is set to commission its first indigenously designed Diving Support Vessel (DSV) INS Nistar at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam on July 18.<\/p>\n<h2>About INS Nistar<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_342662\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-342662\" style=\"width: 458px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-342662\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-PIB-3.png?resize=458%2C301&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"458\" height=\"301\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-PIB-3.png?resize=300%2C197&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-PIB-3.png?resize=1024%2C673&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-PIB-3.png?resize=768%2C505&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-PIB-3.png?w=1194&amp;ssl=1 1194w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 458px) 100vw, 458px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-342662\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>It is India&#8217;s <strong>first indigenous Diving Support Vessel<\/strong> <strong>(DSV).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Built by:<\/strong> The ship has been <strong>indigenously designed<\/strong> and constructed by state-owned <strong>Hindustan Shipyard Limited<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>first ship<\/strong> of two-member class of DSVs, the <strong>second being<\/strong> <strong>Nipun<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Name:<\/strong> The name of the ship \u2018<strong>Nistar\u2019 in Sanskrit<\/strong> translates to <strong>rendering rescue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emblem:<\/strong> An \u2018<strong>anchor\u2019<\/strong> which traditionally symbolises <strong>reliability<\/strong> <strong>and faith<\/strong>, and a \u2018<strong>dolphin\u2019<\/strong> regarded as a <strong>seafarer\u2019s friend and a harbinger of fair weather.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Motto:<\/strong> Surakshita Yatharthta Shauryam (Deliverance with Precision and Bravery)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It has a length of approximately <strong>120 metres<\/strong> and displacement of more than <strong>10,000 tonnes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Indegenously built:<\/strong> A total of 120 MSMEs have participated in the construction of this vessel, achieving more than <strong>80 per cent indigenous content<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Equipments:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the \u2018<strong>Mother Ship\u2019<\/strong> for the Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (<strong>DSRV<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>Its onboard diving complex includes both air and saturation diving systems, along with underwater <strong>Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and Side Scan SONAR.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Functions:<\/strong> These ships will be deployed for <strong>deep sea diving and submarine rescue operations<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>It will be capable of conducting <strong>search and rescue operations<\/strong> and carrying out <strong>helicopter operations<\/strong> at sea.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Earlier version<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The erstwhile INS Nistar was acquired by the Indian Navy from the <strong>erstwhile USSR in 1969<\/strong> and was <strong>commissioned in 1971<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>It was <strong>decommissioned in 1989<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Indian Navy is set to commission its first indigenously designed Diving Support Vessel (DSV) INS Nistar at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam on July 18.
