PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>This Scheme is a <strong>long-term plan to redevelop and modernize railway stations<\/strong> across India in a phased manner in order to <strong>elevate the travel experience<\/strong> for millions of passengers.<\/li>\n<li>Under this scheme, <strong>detailed plans<\/strong> are made for <strong>each station<\/strong> and the work is done in <strong>phases<\/strong>, based on what each station needs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nodal Ministry:<\/strong> Ministry of Railways<\/li>\n<li><strong>Started in:<\/strong> The origin of the scheme can be traced back to <strong>2021<\/strong>, when <strong>Gandhinagar<\/strong> became the <strong>first Railway station<\/strong> to undergo modernization.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Goal:<\/strong> The goal of the scheme is to <strong>make stations cleaner, more comfortable, and easier to use<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>The scheme <strong>focuses<\/strong> on <strong>upgrading<\/strong> <strong>the station buildings<\/strong>, connecting both sides of the city through the station, and <strong>linking stations with other transport options<\/strong> like buses and metros.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> Objectives of the scheme are:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Preparation of Master Plans<\/strong> of the Railway stations and implementation in phases to enhance the facilities including and beyond the Minimum Essential Amenities (MEA)<\/li>\n<li>Cater for the <strong>introduction of new amenities<\/strong> as well as upgradation and replacement of existing amenities<\/li>\n<li><strong>Relocate redundant\/old buildings<\/strong> in a cost-efficient manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u2018One Station One Product\u2019 scheme:<\/strong> <strong>Local products<\/strong> will be sold at kiosks under the \u2018One Station One Product\u2019 scheme.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>designs<\/strong> of redeveloped station buildings are <strong>inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.<\/strong> Some examples are-\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Ahmedabad station<\/strong> draws inspiration from the <strong>Modhera Sun Temple<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Dwarka station<\/strong> is inspired by the <strong>Dwarkadheesh Temple<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Gurugram station<\/strong> will carry the <strong>IT theme<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Baleshwar station<\/strong> in Odisha will be designed on theme of <strong>Bhagwan Jagannath Temple<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Kumbhakonam Station<\/strong> in Tamil Nadu is influenced by the <strong>Chola architecture<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Divyang friendly: <\/strong>The stations are made <strong>friendly for Divyangs <\/strong>as part of <strong>\u201cSugamya Bharat Mission<\/strong>\u201d or \u2018Accessible India Campaign\u2019.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Other key features<\/strong> of these stations include enhanced passenger information systems, free Wi-Fi, wider roads, well-constructed underpasses, foot overbridges, modern waiting areas, executive lounges, spacious circulating areas, grand porches, enhanced parking facilities, alongside improved lighting arrangements, modern restrooms, and lifts, all designed to be disability-friendly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Progress<\/strong>: <strong>Over 1,300 stations are being redeveloped<\/strong> with modern facilities, under the Scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: During his recent visit to Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the country\u2019s railway infrastructure has entered a new era of modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
