{"id":343718,"date":"2025-07-30T16:57:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T11:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=343718"},"modified":"2025-07-30T16:57:43","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T11:27:43","slug":"kaziranga-tiger-reserve-ktr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/kaziranga-tiger-reserve-ktr\/","title":{"rendered":"Kaziranga Tiger Reserve (KTR)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> The first large-scale assessment of the tigers\u2019 population has revealed that the Kaziranga Tiger Reserve has the third-highest density of tigers in the world.<\/p>\n<h2>About Kaziranga Tiger Reserve (KTR)<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_343719\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-343719\" style=\"width: 421px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-343719\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-TH-1.jpg?resize=421%2C236&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"421\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-TH-1.jpg?resize=300%2C168&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-TH-1.jpg?resize=1024%2C573&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-TH-1.jpg?resize=768%2C430&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-TH-1.jpg?resize=1536%2C860&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Source-TH-1.jpg?w=1558&amp;ssl=1 1558w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 421px) 100vw, 421px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-343719\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; TH<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> It is located in the flood plain of the <strong>Brahmaputra River<\/strong>, on the <strong>foothills of Karbi-Anglong district. <\/strong>It is spread across the districts of <strong>Golaghat, Nagaon and Sonitpur of Assam<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>Biogeographically, Kaziranga belongs to the North East Brahmaputra Valley Province.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Terrain<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The terrain of the reserve is <strong>flat with gentle slope from east to west<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The habitat comprises of alluvial deposits from the Brahmaputra River system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rivers:<\/strong> The <strong>river Diffalu<\/strong>, a <strong>tributary of the Brahmaputra<\/strong>, flows through the National Park area (core tiger habitat), while another <strong>tributary Moradifalu<\/strong> flows along its southern boundary.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Corridor <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The reserve has corridor connectivity through the <strong>island systems<\/strong> of Brahmaputra with the <strong>Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park and the Nameri Tiger Reserve.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vegetation<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The reserve supports mainly <strong>four types of vegetations<\/strong> &#8211; alluvial inundated grasslands, alluvial savanna woodlands, tropical moist mixed deciduous forests, and tropical semi-evergreen forests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flora:<\/strong>\u00a0Bombax ceiba, Albizzia procera, Albizzia odorotissima, Albizzia lucida, Careya arborea, Premna latifolia, Lagerstroemia parviflora, Dillenia pentagyna and, Zizyphus jujuba.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fauna<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Many <strong>endangered and threatened species<\/strong> like Rhino, Tiger, Eastern swamp deer, Elephant, Buffalo, Hoolock gibbon, Capped langur and Gangetic river dolphin are commonly found in the habitat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Latest tiger survey<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The survey documented <strong>148 tigers in the reserve,<\/strong> up from 104 recorded in 2022, 99 in 2018 and 96 in 2014.<\/li>\n<li>It has the <strong>third-highest density of tigers in the world<\/strong>, after Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand and Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The first large-scale assessment of the tigers\u2019 population has revealed that the Kaziranga Tiger Reserve has the third-highest density of tigers in the world.
