{"id":343821,"date":"2025-08-01T16:07:58","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T10:37:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=343821"},"modified":"2025-08-01T16:07:58","modified_gmt":"2025-08-01T10:37:58","slug":"ins-himgiri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ins-himgiri\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Himgiri"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> Recently, the Indian Navy formally took delivery of the advanced guided-missile frigate <em>Himgiri<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>About INS Himgiri<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>first <em>Project 17A<\/em> ship<\/strong> to be built by GRSE.<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0<strong>third vessel in the <em>Nilgiri-class<\/em> series<\/strong> under Project 17A.<\/li>\n<li>These warships are<strong> designed to be versatile, multi-mission platforms<\/strong> capable of addressing current and future maritime threats. <em>Himgiri<\/em> represents a significant leap in the Indian Navy\u2019s operational capabilities.<\/li>\n<li>It was designed by the<strong> Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and the construction was overseen by the Warship Overseeing Team in Kolkata.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Features<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The frigate is equipped with <strong>state-of-the-art weaponry, including the <em>BrahMos<\/em> cruise missile system for anti-ship and land-attack missions, and the <em>Barak 8<\/em> missile system for air defence.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The ship features a<strong> modular and ergonomic design <\/strong>and an<strong>\u00a0advanced AESA radar and modern combat management systems.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The ship is capable of<strong> conducting anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare operations.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is powered by a <strong>combination of diesel engines and gas turbines (CODAG configuration),<\/strong> allowing enhanced speed and agility.<\/li>\n<li>The ship is also <strong>equipped with full aviation facilities to support the operation of helicopters onboard,<\/strong> thereby enhancing its surveillance and strike capabilities.<\/li>\n<li>With 75% indigenous content, the construction of <em>Himgiri<\/em> demonstrates India\u2019s robust defence manufacturing capabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Recently, the Indian Navy formally took delivery of the advanced guided-missile frigate Himgiri.
