India Today<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>1,200 MW hydro power.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Type:<\/strong> It is a <strong>run-of-river with pondage project<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>River:<\/strong> It is planned at the <strong>Lohit River basin<\/strong> in the <strong>Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It will be the<strong> first hydroelectric project in the Lohit Basin.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Project developer:<\/strong> <strong>Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC)<\/strong>, a subsidiary of the Indian power generation company <strong>NTPC<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Reservoir:<\/strong> The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 318.8 million cubic meter.\n<ul>\n<li>The gross head of the project will be <strong>125m<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Turbines:<\/strong> The hydro power project consists of <strong>6 turbines, each with 190 MW nameplate.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Installed capacity:<\/strong> The installed capacity of the project is<strong> 1200 MW.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1y17mmm\" data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"720\"><strong>Electricity Generation:<\/strong> The project is expected to<strong> generate about 4852.95 million units (MU) of electricity<\/strong> annually.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Major Ongoing Hydroelectric Projects in India<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (2000 MW)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> On <strong>Subansiri River<\/strong>, border of <strong>Arunachal Pradesh and Assam<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance<\/strong>: India\u2019s <strong>largest under-construction hydroelectric<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Developer: NHPC<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (1000 MW)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> <strong>Uttarakhand<\/strong> (Tehri Dam complex) on the <strong>Bhagirathi River<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance<\/strong>: Provides pumped storage facility for peak demand management.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Developer: THDC<\/strong> India Ltd.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Ratle Hydroelectric Project (850 MW)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> <strong>Chenab River<\/strong>, <strong>Jammu &amp; Kashmir.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Developer<\/strong>: Joint venture of <strong>NHPC &amp; JKSPDC<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Importance:<\/strong> One of the <strong>largest ongoing projects in J&amp;K<\/strong>; critical for regional power supply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project (Jammu &amp; Kashmir):<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Capacity: 1,000 MW<\/li>\n<li><strong>Developed<\/strong> by <strong>Chenab Valley Power Projects<\/strong> Ltd;
