border-collapse: collapse; border-style: solid;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 20.7152%;\"><strong>Components<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 79.2848%; text-align: center;\"><strong>Developed by<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 20.7152%;\"><strong>QRSAM<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 79.2848%;\">DRDO<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 20.7152%;\"><strong>VSHORADS<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 79.2848%;\">Research Centre Imarat (<strong>RCI<\/strong>), a Hyderabad-based facility of the DRDO<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 20.7152%;\"><strong>DEW<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 79.2848%;\">Centre for High Energy Systems and Sciences (<strong>CHESS<\/strong>), a Hyderabad-based facility of the DRDO<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 20.7152%;\"><strong>Command and control<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 79.2848%;\">The <strong>integrated operation<\/strong> of all these weapon system components is controlled by a <strong>Centralized Command and Control Centre<\/strong>, developed by the <strong>Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Hyderabad.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Components of IADWS<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>QRSAM:<\/strong> It is a short-range Surface to Air Missile (SAM) system.\n<ul>\n<li>It is primarily designed to provide a protective shield to moving armoured columns of the Army from enemy aerial attacks.<\/li>\n<li>The entire weapon system is configured on highly mobile platforms.<\/li>\n<li>It has search and track capability and can fire on short halts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Range:<\/strong> The system has an operation range of three to 30 kilometers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Components:<\/strong> The QRSAM weapon ensemble consists of <strong>a fully automated command and control system,<\/strong> <strong>two radars<\/strong> \u2014 <strong>Active Array Battery Surveillance Radar and Active Array Battery Multifunction Radar<\/strong> \u2014 and <strong>one launcher<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Both the <strong>radars<\/strong> have a <strong>360-degree coverage<\/strong> with \u2018<strong>search on move\u2019<\/strong> and \u2018<strong>track on move\u2019<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>VSHORADS:<\/strong> It is a <strong>fourth-generation<\/strong>, technically advanced <strong>miniaturised Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD).<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This missile system has the <strong>capability to meet the needs of all the three branches<\/strong> of the Armed Forces &#8211; <strong>Army, Navy and Air Force<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Range and targets:<\/strong> The weapon system can neutralize targets between the <strong>range of 300 meters and six kilometers<\/strong>, including <strong>drones and other classes of aerial threats<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>DEW:<\/strong> The <strong>land version<\/strong> of the <strong>Vehicle mounted Laser DEW MK-II (A) can <\/strong>defeat <strong>fixed wing UAV and swarm drones<\/strong>, causing structural damage and <strong>disabling their surveillance sensors<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>India<\/strong> has joined the <strong>exclusive club of global powers<\/strong> who possess such a system.<\/li>\n<li>It has a <strong>range of less than three kilometers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strategic significance<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Neutralizing the threats:<\/strong> They are <strong>meant to neutralize aerial threats<\/strong> within the <strong>range of 30 kilometers ranging<\/strong> from <strong>high speed to low speed<\/strong>, and <strong>fixed wing to rotary wing type<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It can be looked at as a <strong>stepping stone towards <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/mission-sudarshan-chakra\/\">Mission Sudarshan Chakra<\/a><\/strong>, a comprehensive defence shield.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted the first flight-tests of an Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS).
