{"id":345105,"date":"2025-08-25T16:38:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T11:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=345105"},"modified":"2025-08-25T16:38:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T11:08:09","slug":"isros-heaviest-rocket-lunar-module-launch-vehicle-lmlv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/isros-heaviest-rocket-lunar-module-launch-vehicle-lmlv\/","title":{"rendered":"ISRO\u2019s heaviest rocket Lunar Module Launch Vehicle (LMLV)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) says that the space agency was in the process of building its heaviest rocket ever, and had named it <strong>Lunar Module Launch Vehicle (LMLV).<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>ISRO\u2019s heaviest rocket Lunar Module Launch Vehicle (LMLV)<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_345106\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-345106\" style=\"width: 341px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-345106\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Source-ISRO-SpaceFlight.jpg?resize=341%2C506&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"341\" height=\"506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Source-ISRO-SpaceFlight.jpg?resize=202%2C300&amp;ssl=1 202w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Source-ISRO-SpaceFlight.jpg?w=570&amp;ssl=1 570w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-345106\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; ISRO SpaceFlight<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>It is India\u2019s <strong>forthcoming super-heavy-lift rocket<\/strong> currently under development by <strong>the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The LMLV would be <strong>ready by 2035.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Purpose:<\/strong> It would be used for the <strong>lunar missions<\/strong>, including the <strong>first human mission to the Moon<\/strong>, planned by <strong>2040<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Design<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This new rocket would be as <strong>tall as a 40-storey building<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It will be a <strong>three-stage rocket<\/strong>, with the <strong>first two<\/strong> stages using <strong>liquid propellent<\/strong> and the <strong>third stage<\/strong> using a <strong>cryogenic propellant<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>first stage core<\/strong>, along with <strong>two strap-on motors<\/strong>, will have <strong>three sets of nine engines<\/strong> or <strong>27 in total. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Placed side-by-side, even the <strong>strap-on boosters of the LMLV are taller<\/strong> than the <strong>entire height<\/strong> of the <strong>current <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/human-rated-launch-vehicle-mark-3-hlvm-3\/\">LVM3<\/a><\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>LVM-3 carried Chandrayaan-3 to the Moon<\/strong> and since then has been human-rated for use in the <strong>Gaganyaan mission<\/strong>, India\u2019s human spaceflight programme. But will be <strong>replaced by the LMLV now<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Payload Capacity:<\/strong> The new rocket would be capable of carrying about <strong>27 tonnes to the Moon<\/strong> and <strong>80 tonnes to low Earth orbits<\/strong>, which are between <strong>200 and 2,000 km<\/strong> from the planet\u2019s surface.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) says that the space agency was in the process of building its heaviest rocket ever, and had named it Lunar Module Launch Vehicle (LMLV).
