{"id":34534,"date":"2018-10-31T11:43:15","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T06:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=34534"},"modified":"2018-10-31T11:43:15","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T06:13:15","slug":"india-brazil-south-africa-sign-ibsa-trust-fund-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/india-brazil-south-africa-sign-ibsa-trust-fund-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"India, Brazil, South Africa sign IBSA Trust Fund agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/article\/pti-stories\/india-brazil-south-africa-sign-ibsa-trust-fund-agreement-117101800018_1.html\">India, Brazil, South Africa sign IBSA Trust Fund agreement<b><\/b><\/a><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India, Brazil and South Africa (IBSA) have signed the IBSA Trust Fund Agreement that seeks to fight poverty in developing countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Introduction:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was signed at the 8th IBSA trilateral Ministerial Commission Meeting in Durban, South Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is IBSA Trust Fund?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IBSA Trust Fund \u00a0brings together the three emerging economies of India, Brazil and South Africa to combat poverty in other developing countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each country will contribute US $1 million annually to this fund which is managed by the UN Development Programme\u2019s (UNDP) Special Unit for South-South Cooperation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>BSA Dialogue Forum :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IBSA (India, Brazil and South Africa) Dialogue Forum is an international tripartite grouping for promoting international cooperation among these countries. It was launched in June 2003.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It brings together three large democracies and major economies from three different continents namely, Africa, Asia and South America that represent three important poles for galvanizing South-South cooperation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The forum provides the three countries platform to engage in discussions for cooperation in the field of agriculture, trade, culture, and defence among others.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Cooperation in IBSA is on three fronts:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cooperation in IBSA is on three fronts Forum for consultation and coordination on global and regional political issues, such as reform of global institutions of political and economic governance, WTO\/Doha Development Agenda, climate change, terrorism etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trilateral collaboration on concrete areas and projects, through 14 working groups and 6 <\/span><b>People-to-People (P2P)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Forums, for the common benefit of three nations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assisting other developing countries by taking up projects in the latter through IBSA Fund.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India, Brazil, South Africa sign IBSA Trust Fund agreement Context: India, Brazil and South Africa (IBSA) have signed the IBSA Trust Fund Agreement that seeks to fight poverty in developing countries.
