{"id":345356,"date":"2025-08-29T16:03:39","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T10:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=345356"},"modified":"2025-08-29T16:05:43","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T10:35:43","slug":"samudrayaan-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/samudrayaan-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Samudrayaan Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> Recently, as part of preparation for this Samudrayaan Project, two Indian \u201caquanauts\u201d travelled in the French vessel <em data-start=\"348\" data-end=\"357\">Nautile<\/em> in the Atlantic Ocean to gain deep-sea exploration experience.<\/p>\n<h2>About Samudrayaan Project<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 474px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tse4.mm.bing.net\/th\/id\/OIP.nZBvbpKe-3yBxtfYk6j7ugHaFj?r=0&amp;rs=1&amp;pid=ImgDetMain&amp;o=7&amp;rm=3\" alt=\"Samudrayaan Mission: A Ticket To Elite 'Blue Club'; After Moon, India ...\" width=\"474\" height=\"355\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: cppr.in<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Samudrayaan Project<\/strong> is <strong>part of India\u2019s Deep Ocean Mission,<\/strong> which was approved by the Union Cabinet in 2021.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Agency involved: The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) <\/strong>is the coordinating agency responsible for developing the submersible and associated technologies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim<\/strong>: To send three humans to a <strong>depth of 6,000 m in the ocean by the year 2027.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Goal:<\/strong> To\u00a0conduct <strong>surveys<\/strong> for mineral deposits, particularly polymetallic nodules that contain valuable materials such as nickel, cobalt, rare earth elements, manganese, and iron.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives of the Project<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It seeks to <strong>develop technologies for deep-sea mining, underwater vehicles, and robotics,<\/strong> along with designing and deploying a crewed submersible.<\/li>\n<li>It also aims <strong>to study the impacts of climate change in the oceans and create advisory services based on models and observations. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The project further intends<strong> to explore deep-sea biodiversity and develop technologies to conserve it. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It also seeks <strong>to develop methods for generating energy and freshwater from the ocean and to establish an advanced marine station<\/strong> for ocean biology and engineering research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Feat:<\/strong> With this mission,<strong> India will join an elite group of countries that already have deep-sea exploration capabilities,<\/strong> namely the United States, Russia, China, Japan, and France.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About Matsya-6000 (The Submersible)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The submersible bein<strong>g developed for the mission is called Matsya-6000. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This vehicle will c<strong>arry three aquanauts to the ocean depths. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It has been <strong>designed with a personnel sphere of 2.1 metres in diameter to house the humans inside. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The vehicle will be <strong>capable of sustaining three crew members for missions lasting up to 12 hours,<\/strong> and <strong>in case of emergencies, it can support life for up to 96 hours.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Recently, as part of preparation for this Samudrayaan Project, two Indian \u201caquanauts\u201d travelled in the French vessel Nautile in the Atlantic Ocean to gain deep-sea exploration experience.
