{"id":345357,"date":"2025-08-29T15:38:17","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T10:08:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=345357"},"modified":"2025-08-29T15:38:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T10:08:17","slug":"national-biofoundry-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/national-biofoundry-network\/","title":{"rendered":"National Biofoundry Network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> Recently, India\u2019s first national-level biofoundry network was launched by Union Science and Technology Minister.<\/p>\n<h2>About National Biofoundry Network<\/h2>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/morungexpress.com\/uploads\/2025\/08\/78709453_1756313618_202508273493214.jpg?resize=439%2C261&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"PIB Photo\" width=\"439\" height=\"261\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>landmark initiative<\/strong> launched to <strong>transform the nation\u2019s biotech innovation,<\/strong> biomanufacturing <strong>capacity<\/strong>, and advancement towards a <strong>bio<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>based economy<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It was launched on <strong>August 27, 2025.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Launched under:<\/strong> <strong>BioE3 Policy<\/strong> (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementing agency:<\/strong> It will be implemented by the Department of Biotechnology (<strong>DBT<\/strong>), Ministry of Science &amp; Technology.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> It is aimed at making biotechnology a <strong>driver of the economy, environment, and employment<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>It also aims to expand <strong>energy access<\/strong> with biofuels and green technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Composition of the Network:<\/strong> The Network is comprised of <strong>six leading institutions across India<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>It has been designed to <strong>scale up proof-of-concept developments and strengthen indigenous biomanufacturing capacity<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives of the Network:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1008\" data-end=\"1104\">To provide a <strong data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1072\">platform for scaling proof-of-concept solutions<\/strong> into deployable technologies.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1107\" data-end=\"1192\">To <strong data-start=\"1110\" data-end=\"1158\">enhance indigenous biomanufacturing capacity<\/strong> and reduce reliance on imports.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1195\" data-end=\"1322\">To foster <strong data-start=\"1205\" data-end=\"1232\">sustainable development<\/strong> through biotech-driven solutions in <strong data-start=\"1269\" data-end=\"1319\">health, agriculture, industry, and environment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1325\" data-end=\"1415\">To create <strong data-start=\"1335\" data-end=\"1363\">employment opportunities<\/strong> and strengthen India\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1387\" data-end=\"1412\">bio-startup ecosystem.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>BioE3 Challenge for Youth<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an <strong>initiative conceptualized<\/strong> under National Biofoundry Network.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Theme:<\/strong> It is a nationwide <strong>call to young innovators<\/strong> under the theme <strong>\u201cDesign Microbes, Molecules &amp; More\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> The programme aims to <strong>empower grassroots innovators<\/strong>, foster youth-led change, and strengthen India\u2019s journey towards a susta<strong>inable and self-reliant bioeconomy.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Participants:<\/strong> The initiative invites school students (<strong>Classes 6\u201312)<\/strong>, <strong>university students<\/strong>, <strong>researchers, faculty, startups and Indian nationals<\/strong> to design <strong>safe-by-default biological solutions<\/strong> addressing challenges in <strong>health, agriculture, environment, and industry. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Challenge included:<\/strong> The challenge will be <strong>announced on the first of every month<\/strong> beginning October 2025.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Incentives<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The top 10 winning solutions each will <strong>receive a cash award of \u20b91 lakh<\/strong> along with <strong>recognition and mentoring support<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>100 selected awardees<\/strong> will be eligible for <strong>funding of up to \u20b925 lakh,<\/strong> provided in <strong>two tranches through BIRAC<\/strong>, to convert their ideas into proof-of-concept <strong>solutions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>These projects will also gain <strong>access to facilities and incubation support<\/strong> at <strong>BRIC+ institutions<\/strong> across India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Recently, India\u2019s first national-level biofoundry network was launched by Union Science and Technology Minister.
