NSO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Period conducted:<\/strong> January \u2013 December 2024.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conducted By:<\/strong> National Statistics Office (<strong>NSO<\/strong>), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI)<\/li>\n<li><strong>It is the second All-India Survey <\/strong>builds upon the first all-India TUS conducted in 2019.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purpose:<\/strong> To measure how individuals allocate their time to various <strong>paid, unpaid, and other activities<\/strong> over a <strong>24-hour reference period<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives of TUS:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It <strong>measures participation of men and women in paid and unpaid activities.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It <strong>provides data on unpaid caregiving, volunteer work, and unpaid domestic services.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It <strong>captures time spent on learning, socialising, leisure, culture, self-care<\/strong>, and other activities.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>generates comparative insights<\/strong> between 2019 and 2024 to track shifts in time use patterns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About Time Use Survey (TUS), 2024<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Data Collection Method:<\/strong> CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviews).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reference Period:<\/strong> 24 hours (from 4:00 AM of the previous day to 4:00 AM on the day of the interview).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recording:<\/strong> Activities logged in 30-minute slots; up to three activities per slot if \u226510 minutes were spent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Population Covered:<\/strong> Persons aged 6 years and above.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coverage<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Households Covered:<\/strong>1,39,487 (Rural: 83,247; Urban: 56,240).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Individuals Covered:<\/strong>4,54,192 persons aged 6+ years (Rural: 2,85,389; Urban: 1,68,803).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Major Indicators Produced:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Participation Rate:<\/strong> Percentage of persons performing an activity during the day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Average Time Spent per Participant:<\/strong> Time spent per day by only those participating in the activity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Average Time Spent per Person:<\/strong> Time spent per day by the whole population, including non-participants\u2014helps allocate the total 1440 minutes\/day across activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key Highlights of TUS, 2024<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rise in Employment Participation: <\/strong>75% of males and 25% of females (age 15\u201359) participated in employment-related activities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shift from Unpaid to Paid Work (Women): <\/strong>Time spent by females in unpaid domestic services reduced from 315 minutes\/day (2019) to 305 minutes\/day (2024).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Caregiving Activities:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>41% of females (age 15\u201359) engaged in caregiving for household members vs. 21.4% of males.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Average time spent per day:<\/strong> Females 140 minutes; Males 74 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Producing Goods for Own Final Use: <\/strong>24.6% of rural population aged 15\u201359 participated, spending 121 minutes\/day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Learning Activities (Children 6\u201314 years): <\/strong>89.3% participated, spending 413 minutes\/day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Culture, Leisure &amp;
