{"id":346768,"date":"2025-09-24T18:12:26","date_gmt":"2025-09-24T12:42:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=346768"},"modified":"2025-09-24T18:12:26","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T12:42:26","slug":"tirah-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/tirah-valley\/","title":{"rendered":"Tirah Valley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> Many people died, and several houses were destroyed in an explosion that occurred recently in the Tirah Valley of Pakistan\u2019s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>About <\/strong><strong>Tirah Valley<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 308px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.tribune.com.pk\/media\/images\/530654-TIRAHMAP-1365020082\/530654-TIRAHMAP-1365020082.jpg?resize=308%2C173&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Tirah Valley battles\" width=\"308\" height=\"173\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Tribune<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong data-start=\"199\" data-end=\"215\">Location: Tirah Valley<\/strong> is a mountainous tract in <strong data-start=\"242\" data-end=\"296\">west-central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>It is positioned between <strong>Khyber Pass<\/strong> and <strong>Khanki Valley<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Expanse:<\/strong>\u00a0It covers about <strong>600\u2013700 square miles <\/strong>and comprises <strong>five main valleys<\/strong>: <strong>Maidan<\/strong>, <strong>Rajgul<\/strong>, <strong>Waran<\/strong>, <strong>Bara<\/strong>, and <strong>Mastura<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rivers:<\/strong> The region is watered by the <strong data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"557\">Mastura<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"559\" data-end=\"569\">Khanki<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"575\" data-end=\"594\">Khurmana rivers<\/strong>, which originate near <strong data-start=\"617\" data-end=\"661\">Mount Mitta <\/strong>in the <strong data-start=\"669\" data-end=\"683\">Spin Range.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>At <strong data-start=\"692\" data-end=\"707\">Mount Mitta<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"727\">Spin Range<\/strong> splits into several branches, creating the valleys of Tirah at <strong data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"846\">elevations of 5,000\u20137,000 feet (1,500\u20132,100 metres)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strategic position:<\/strong> It is situated close to the <strong>Afghanistan\u2013Pakistan border<\/strong>, making it strategically sensitive.\n<ul>\n<li>It has historically served as a <strong>corridor between South Asia and Central Asia<\/strong>, contested by the <strong>Mughals, British, and modern Pakistan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It is noted for its <strong>fertile valleys, terraced agriculture<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>It possesses <strong>fertile alluvial soil<\/strong>, with <strong>walnut and mulberry trees<\/strong> and extensive <strong>summer pastures<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mountain passes:<\/strong> It is characterised by high mountain passes &#8211; <strong>Sampagha<\/strong>, <strong>Tseri Kandao<\/strong>, and <strong>Saran Sar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tribes found: Pashtun tribes<\/strong>\u00a0mainly <strong>Afridis<\/strong> and <strong>Orakzais.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Also, includes minority <strong>Sikh traders<\/strong> and <strong>Hamsaya<\/strong> communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strategic importance:<\/strong>\u00a0Tirah Valley has historically been difficult to control and has served as a critical zone between <strong data-start=\"1763\" data-end=\"1794\">South Asia and Central Asia because of its location and rugged terrain<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Many people died, and several houses were destroyed in an explosion that occurred recently in the Tirah Valley of Pakistan\u2019s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
