Research Gate<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> The <strong>Vishwamitri River<\/strong> is a <strong>small, non-perennial river<\/strong> stretching approximately <strong>200 km in length<\/strong>, located in <strong>Gujarat, India<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Origin:<\/strong> The river originates from the <strong>western and southern slopes<\/strong> of the <strong>Pavagadh hills<\/strong> in eastern Gujarat.<\/li>\n<li><strong>It flows westward and passes through Vadodara\u00a0before joining its two tributaries:<\/strong> <strong>Dhadar<\/strong> and <strong>Jambuva<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ending:<\/strong> It drains into the <strong>Arabian Sea<\/strong> through the <strong>Gulf of Khambhat<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features:<\/strong> It is <strong>characterized by its winding, meandering course, which creates a distinctive ecosystem along its banks. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Wildlife:<\/strong> The river features <strong>numerous ravines, teeming with diverse wildlife. <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Species such as <strong>porcupines<\/strong>, the <strong>common Indian civet<\/strong>, <strong>jungle cats<\/strong>, <strong>cobras<\/strong>, <strong>pythons<\/strong>, <strong>checkered keelbacks<\/strong>, and the <strong>Bengal monitor<\/strong> can be found in the river&#8217;s ravines.<\/li>\n<li>One of the most notable residents of the Vishwamitri River is the <strong>Indian crocodile<\/strong> (<strong>Crocodylus palustris<\/strong>), also known as the <strong>mugger crocodile<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The river has been home to this protected species, with an estimated population of <strong>300 muggers<\/strong> recorded in a 2020 survey by the <strong>Gujarat Forest Department<\/strong> within the city limits of Vadodara.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About Mugger Crocodiles<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>one of the 24 remaining species of crocodilians <\/strong>found on earth.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Naming:<\/strong> Its common name &#8220;<strong>mugger<\/strong>&#8221;
