Identities are masked to analyse general trends.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key findings of The National Science and Technology Survey (2023)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Gross Expenditure on R&amp;D (GERD)<\/strong> in the country has <strong>more than doubled<\/strong> from Rs. 60,196.75 crore in 2010\u201311 to Rs. 127,380.96 crore in 2020\u201321.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_346976\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-346976\" style=\"width: 463px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-346976\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Source-DST.jpg?resize=463%2C224&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"463\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Source-DST.jpg?resize=300%2C145&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Source-DST.jpg?w=602&amp;ssl=1 602w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 463px) 100vw, 463px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-346976\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; DST<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>India\u2019s <strong>GERD as percentage of GDP<\/strong> remained at <strong>0.66% and 0.64%<\/strong> during the years <strong>2019\u201320<\/strong> and <strong>2020\u201321,<\/strong> respectively.<\/li>\n<li><strong>GERD<\/strong> is mainly <strong>driven by the Government sector<\/strong> comprising Central Government (43.7%), State Governments (6.7%), Higher Education (8.8%) and Public Sector Industry (4.4%) with <strong>Private Sector<\/strong> Industry contributing <strong>36.4%<\/strong> during 2020\u201321.<\/li>\n<li>India\u2019s <strong>per capita R&amp;D expenditure<\/strong> has <strong>increased<\/strong> to current <strong>PPP$ 42.0<\/strong> in 2020\u201321 from current <strong>PPP$ 29.2<\/strong> in 2007\u201308.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Ministry of Science and Technology plans to postpone publishing its National S&amp;T Survey analysis due to weak private-sector responses, with a likely submission extension to November 30, 2025.
