The draft aims to make the creators and platforms behind such content accountable and transparent. The risk of viral misinformation is therefore exponentially higher.<\/li>\n<li>The draft\u2019s proposed <strong>\u201c10 per cent visual disclaimer\u201d<\/strong> is symbolically strong but <strong>technically weak<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Way Forward<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Verification infrastructure:<\/strong> Build a digital provenance framework, akin to Aadhaar, for authenticity, where each piece of content carries an invisible but verifiable signature.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tiered accountability:<\/strong> Differentiate between platforms that host, generate, or monetise synthetic media. Responsibility should rise with influence.<\/li>\n<li><strong>AI literacy:<\/strong> Equip citizens to detect manipulation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table width=\"624\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"624\"><strong>International Case Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The EU\u2019s AI Act mandates watermarking of synthetic content.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The US relies on voluntary corporate commitments.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 China requires government pre-approval for \u201cdeep synthesis\u201d media.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Democracy runs on trust. And trust is fragile when truth becomes fluid. The solution isn\u2019t censorship. Regulate authenticity, not opinion. If India can institutionalise transparency in AI-generated media, it won\u2019t just protect its elections.
