{"id":34901,"date":"2018-10-31T14:20:04","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T08:50:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=34901"},"modified":"2018-10-31T14:20:04","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T08:50:04","slug":"bsf-pushes-back-rohingya-from-tripura","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/bsf-pushes-back-rohingya-from-tripura\/","title":{"rendered":"BSF pushes back Rohingya from Tripura:\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-national\/bsf-pushes-back-rohingya-from-tripura\/article19759670.ece\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BSF pushes back Rohingya from Tripura<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Boarder Security Force recently pushed back four Rohingya Muslims who were trying to cross over an unfenced stretch on the Bangladesh border in Tripura.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Introduction:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the first instance of Rohingya being pushed back since the Home Ministry circular on August 19 to identify and deport them.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The BSF had identified 75 vulnerable locations on a 21 km stretch in Tripura.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NHRC opposition<\/span><b><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The National Human Rights Commission has opposed the government\u2019s move to deport and push back the Rohingya and sought a report from the Ministry.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Government\u2019s affidavit<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its affidavit filed in the Supreme Court on September 18, the union government said Rohingya were a threat to national security and \u201csome of the unauthorised Rohingya immigrants had linkages with Pakistan-based terror organisations.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It said there was an organised influx of \u201cillegal\u201d immigrants from Mynamar through agents and touts facilitating illegal immigration of Rohingya into India via Benapole-Haridaspur (West Bengal), Hili (West Bengal), Sonamora (Tripura), Kolkata and Guwahati.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first four points are authorised immigration checkpoints and manned by customs, immigration and BSF officials.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Background:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In June, the Home Ministry constituted yet another committee to examine various methods to curb the misuse of free movement along the Myanmar border, a friendly country, with which it shares unfenced borders and unhindered movement of people across the border.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The committee, headed by Rina Mitra, Special Secretary, Internal Security, visited the border areas last week<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BSF pushes back Rohingya from Tripura:\u00a0 Context: The Boarder Security Force recently pushed back four Rohingya Muslims who were trying to cross over an unfenced stretch on the Bangladesh border in Tripura.
