Joseph (Kerala) and Shri Lakshan Pramanik, Shri Ananthamurthy J, Shri Nakul Singh (Bihar), Shri Narendra Singh (Uttarakhand), among others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Financial Incentives: <\/strong>Under the PPV&amp;FRA scheme, <strong>financial rewards up to \u20b915 lakh<\/strong> are provided to encourage the conservation of indigenous seed varieties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>About the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers\u2019 Rights Authority (PPV&amp;FRA)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Establishment: <\/strong>Constituted under the <em>Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers\u2019 Rights Act, 2001<\/em>; functions under the <strong>Ministry of Agriculture &amp; Farmers\u2019 Welfare<\/strong>, Government of India.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Headquarters: <\/strong>Located in <strong>New Delhi<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Core Objectives:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Grant <strong>intellectual property rights<\/strong> to plant breeders for developing new plant varieties.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recognize and reward farmers<\/strong> and communities for conserving traditional varieties.<\/li>\n<li>Protect <strong>farmers\u2019 rights to save, use, sow, resow, exchange, share, and sell<\/strong> farm-saved seeds of registered varieties.<\/li>\n<li>Promote <strong>research, innovation, and biodiversity conservation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain the <strong>National Register of Plant Varieties (NRPV)<\/strong> and document valuable germplasm resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Safeguards <strong>traditional knowledge<\/strong> and ensures <strong>equitable benefit sharing<\/strong> from the use of indigenous varieties.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Serves as a <strong>bridge between scientific innovation and traditional farming wisdom<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Supports India\u2019s goals of <strong>seed sovereignty<\/strong>, <strong>biodiversity conservation<\/strong>, and <strong>sustainable agriculture<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Union Agriculture Minister recently presented \u2018Plant Genome Saviour Awards\u2019 to farmers in New Delhi.
