{"id":350710,"date":"2025-11-26T16:04:25","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T10:34:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=350710"},"modified":"2025-11-26T16:04:25","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T10:34:25","slug":"critical-mineral-recycling-incentive-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/critical-mineral-recycling-incentive-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Critical Mineral Recycling Incentive Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>News: <\/strong>Recently, the progress of the \u20b91,500 crore Incentive Scheme for Critical Mineral Recycling was reviewed.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\">About Critical Mineral Recycling Incentive Scheme<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 285px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.newsonair.gov.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Cabinet.jpg?resize=285%2C285&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Critical Mineral Recycling Incentive Scheme\" width=\"285\" height=\"285\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The Critical Mineral Recycling Incentive Scheme is a \u20b91,500 crore initiative under the <strong>National Critical Mineral Mission.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Aim:<\/strong> To boost India\u2019s recycling capacity for extracting critical minerals from secondary sources.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Objective:<\/strong> The scheme seeks <strong>to develop an annual recycling capacity of 3 lakh tonnes for critical mineral extraction.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Project Management Agency:<\/strong> Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research, Development &amp; Design Centre (<strong>JNARDDC<\/strong>), Nagpur.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">It manages the <strong>application process, supports stakeholders, and oversees implementation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Focus:<\/strong> It focuses on <strong>securing vital materials needed for clean energy technologies, electronics, EVs, and strategic sectors.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">It also focusses on <strong>rapidly scaling up domestic recycling capacity to meet the growing industry demand<\/strong> for critical minerals essential for clean energy, electronics, mobility, and strategic sectors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features of scheme<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Targeted Secondary Sources: <\/strong><strong>The scheme promotes extraction of minerals from: <\/strong>E-waste, Spent Lithium-ion Batteries (LiBs) and Industrial scrap and other secondary materials<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Beneficiaries: <\/strong>The scheme\u00a0include both <strong data-start=\"1513\" data-end=\"1532\">large recyclers<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1560\">small\/new recyclers<\/strong>, including start-ups.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong data-start=\"1587\" data-end=\"1621\">One-third of the scheme outlay<\/strong> is earmarked specifically for small and new recyclers.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The scheme supports investments in <strong data-start=\"1716\" data-end=\"1729\">new units<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1731\" data-end=\"1753\">capacity expansion<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1772\">modernization<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1778\" data-end=\"1797\">diversification<\/strong> of existing facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Incentives<\/strong> apply to the <strong data-start=\"1850\" data-end=\"1892\">actual extraction of critical minerals<\/strong>, not just mass production.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Significance:<\/strong> The scheme <strong>strengthens India\u2019s circular economy and reduces dependence on imported critical minerals.<\/strong> It supports sustainable resource management and accelerates India\u2019s clean-energy transition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Recently, the progress of the \u20b91,500 crore Incentive Scheme for Critical Mineral Recycling was reviewed.
