The system consists of both <\/span><b>diesel engines and a gas turbine<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, allowing flexibility in speed and fuel efficiency.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Each shaft is fitted with a <\/span><b>Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for improved manoeuvrability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A <\/span><b>state-of-the-art Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> ensures centralised and automated control of ship systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Weapons and sensor suite: <\/b>The potent weapon and sensors suite comprises <strong>BrahMos SSM, MFSTAR and MRSAM complex<\/strong>, 76mm SRGM, and a combination of 30 mm and 12.7 mm close-in weapon systems, along with <strong>rockets and torpedoes for anti-submarine warfare<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About Project 17A<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: justify\"><b>Project 17A<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is an Indian Navy initiative to build <\/span><b>seven advanced stealth frigates<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as successors to the <strong>Shivalik-class (Project 17).<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Project 17A frigates are <strong>versatile multi-mission platforms<\/strong>, designed to address current and future challenges in the maritime domain.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These frigates feature <\/span><b>superior stealth characteristics, enhanced automation, advanced sensors, and modern weapon systems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: justify\"><b>Built by: <\/b>Of the seven ships, <strong>four<\/strong> \u2013 Nilgiri, Udaygiri, Taragiri, and Mahendragiri \u2013 are being built by <strong>MDL<\/strong>, and <strong>three<\/strong> by <strong>GRSE<\/strong> (Himgiri, Dunagiri, and Vindhyagiri).<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: justify\">Project 17A demonstrates India\u2019s <b>rising maritime strength<\/b> and supports long-term security objectives in the Indo-Pacific region.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;text-align: justify\">The <strong>three frigates earlier<\/strong> delivered under the Project are &#8211;\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ins-himgiri\/\">INS Himgiri<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ins-udaygiri\/\">INS Udaygiri<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ins-surat-ins-nilgiri-and-ins-vaghsheer\/\">INS Nilgiri<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: INS Taragiri \u00a0(Yard 12653) was delivered to the Indian Navy at MDL, Mumbai.
