{"id":352907,"date":"2025-12-29T13:12:46","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T07:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=352907"},"modified":"2025-12-29T13:12:46","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T07:42:46","slug":"ins-vaghsheer-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ins-vaghsheer-2\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Vaghsheer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu undertook a dived sortie onboard Submarine \u2013 INS Vaghsheer on Western Seaboard.<\/p>\n<h2>About INS Vaghsheer<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_352909\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-352909\" style=\"width: 221px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-352909\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Source-PIB-5.jpg?resize=221%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"INS Vaghsheer\" width=\"221\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Source-PIB-5.jpg?resize=221%2C300&amp;ssl=1 221w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Source-PIB-5.jpg?w=581&amp;ssl=1 581w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-352909\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>INS Vaghsheer is the <strong>sixth and final Kalvari-class (Scorpene-class) diesel-electric attack submarine<\/strong> of the Indian Navy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Built by:<\/strong> It was built by <strong>Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL)<\/strong> in <strong>Mumbai<\/strong> under <strong>Project 75<\/strong> with <strong>technology transfer from France&#8217;s Naval Group.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Naming:<\/strong> Vagsheer is <strong>named after the sand fish<\/strong>, a deep sea <strong>predator of the Indian Ocean<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Earlier version:<\/strong> The <strong>first submarine Vagsheer, from Russia<\/strong>, was <strong>commissioned<\/strong> into the Indian Navy on <strong>December 26, 1974<\/strong>, and was <strong>decommissioned on April 30, 1997.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Specifications<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Capacity: <\/strong>Vagsheer can take up to <strong>eight officers and 35 men.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Dimensions and speed:<\/strong> It is <strong>67.5 m long<\/strong> and <strong>12.3 m high<\/strong>, with a beam measuring 6.2 m Vagsheer can reach <strong>top speed of 20 knots when submerged<\/strong> and a top speed of <strong>11 knots when it surfaces<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>diesel attack submarine<\/strong>, designed to perform <strong>sea denial as well as access denial warfare against the adversary<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It can do <strong>offensive operations<\/strong> across the spectrum of naval warfare including <strong>anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, mine laying and area surveillance.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Equipments: <\/strong>It is enabled with a <strong>C303 anti-torpedo counter measure<\/strong> It can carry up to <strong>18 torpedoes or Exocet anti-ship missiles, or 30 mines in place of torpedoes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About Project 75<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>P 75 is one of <strong>two lines of submarines<\/strong>, the other being <strong>P75I<\/strong>, as part of a <strong>plan approved in 1999<\/strong> for indigenous submarine construction with technology taken from overseas firms.<\/li>\n<li>The contract for <strong>six submarines under P75<\/strong> was given to Mazgaon Dock Limited.<\/li>\n<li>Under P75, <strong>INS Kalvari, INS Khanderi, INS Karanj, INS Vela and INS Vagir<\/strong> have been commissioned.<\/li>\n<li><strong>INS Vagsheer<\/strong>\u00a0was officially commissioned into the Indian Navy on <strong>15 January 2025.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu undertook a dived sortie onboard Submarine \u2013 INS Vaghsheer on Western Seaboard.
