Context:<\/strong> The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)<\/strong> was launched on 25 December 2000<\/strong> with the objective of providing all-weather road connectivity to rural habitations that were previously unconnected. This initiative aimed to integrate villages with markets, schools, and healthcare facilities. The programme plays a pivotal role in promoting inclusive rural development<\/strong> by improving access to social services, employment opportunities, and agricultural markets.<\/p>\n

Progress and Achievements<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    3. RCPLWEA (2016):<\/strong> Targeted 44 Left Wing Extremism-affected districts to improve security mobility for forces while enhancing access to education, markets, and health facilities for rural populations.<\/li>\n
    4. Phase III (2019):<\/strong> Focused on upgrading through routes and major rural links<\/strong> to improve connectivity with Gramin Agricultural Markets, higher secondary schools, and healthcare institutions.<\/li>\n
    5. Phase IV (2024\u201329):<\/strong> Plans to construct 62,500 km of roads<\/strong> to connect 25,000 unconnected habitations<\/strong> in special category, tribal, and Himalayan regions, with an outlay of Rs 70,125 crore<\/strong>, ensuring last-mile connectivity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Technology and Quality Monitoring<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      1. The Online Management, Monitoring, and Accounting System (OMMAS)<\/strong> enables real-time monitoring of physical and financial progress, ensuring accountability.<\/li>\n
      2. The e-MARG platform<\/strong> ensures systematic maintenance of roads during the Defect Liability Period (DLP) and links contractor payments to road performance.<\/li>\n
