{"id":35339,"date":"2018-10-31T16:34:23","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T11:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=35339"},"modified":"2018-10-31T16:34:23","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T11:04:23","slug":"switzerland-for-early-india-efta-pact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/switzerland-for-early-india-efta-pact\/","title":{"rendered":"Switzerland for early India-EFTA pact:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Industry\/switzerland-for-early-india-efta-pact\/article19604210.ece\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Switzerland for early India-EFTA pact:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/a><b>Context<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The early conclusion of the proposed Free Trade Agreement(FTA) between India and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) as well as an investment protection framework would boost economic ties between the two sides, said Switzerland President Doris Leuthard on Friday.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Who all are members of EFTA?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EFTA members include Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Statement by Switzerland President Doris Leuthard<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe want to bring the (FTA) negotiations that have been running between India and EFTA since 2008 to an end,\u201d said Leuthard.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00b7<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She added, \u201cI would really like to have India as a strong economic partner with trade agreement and an investment protection framework to be the base of the new era of cooperation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>India\u2019s stand<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India was also keen on concluding negotiations for the pact as it would benefit both sides.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India\u2019s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was in compliance with the global rules and ensured that the patent, copyrights and trademark rights of any individual or company gets respected.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India was ready to address any questions on IPR or concerns on data security.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>On Data security \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Switzerland believes that rights have to be protected to promote investments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Internet is evolving at a rapid pace but there is a regulatory gap, the need to close the gap needs to be deliberated upon.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Switzerland for early India-EFTA pact:\u00a0 Context The early conclusion of the proposed Free Trade Agreement(FTA) between India and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) as well as an investment protection framework would boost economic ties between the two sides, said Switzerland President Doris Leuthard on Friday.
