{"id":35340,"date":"2018-10-31T16:35:06","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T11:05:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=35340"},"modified":"2018-10-31T16:35:06","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T11:05:06","slug":"indias-growth-will-rebound-to-7-7-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/indias-growth-will-rebound-to-7-7-5\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018India\u2019s growth will rebound to 7%-7.5%\u2019:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Industry\/indias-growth-will-rebound-to-7-75\/article19604501.ece\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018India\u2019s growth will rebound to 7%-7.5%\u2019: <\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Rajiv Kumar is hopeful that India\u2019s economy will expand at 7%-7.5% in the current quarter after declining for five consecutive quarters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Introduction<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also categorically dismissed any link between the slowdown in growth and demonetisation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per official data released on Thursday, India\u2019s GDP grew at 5.7% between April to June this year, the slowest pace in 13 quarters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr Kumar said that with a good monsoon, increase in FDI and FIIs, smooth rollout of GST and a large number of IPOs lined up, economic growth in the July-September quarter will be in the range of 7-7.5%.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Demenetisation and its impact:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Kumar said there cannot be any link between demonetisation and slowdown in GDP because re-monetisation started in the first week of January.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said that demonetization had no role in the fall of GDP.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Reasons for glow growth:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr Kumar said that the decline was mainly because of the fact that April-June quarter saw active destocking by firms in anticipation of GST.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Active de-stocking in anticipation of GST(Goods and Services tax), higher base and a deflationary impact of WPI(wholesale price inflation) had led to a fall in economic growth, according to Dr Kumar.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Private investment:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr kumar said that India was a country of entrepreneurs and private investors who accounted for 70% to 80% of total investments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said that revival of private investment along with job creation is his top most priority.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018India\u2019s growth will rebound to 7%-7.5%\u2019: Context: The new Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Rajiv Kumar is hopeful that India\u2019s economy will expand at 7%-7.5% in the current quarter after declining for five consecutive quarters.
