Radhakrishnan visited the Harijan Sevak Sangh at the historic Gandhi Ashram in New Delhi.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\">About Harijan Sevak Sangh (HSS)<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 432px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/gandhiharijansevaksangh.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/abt-1.jpg?resize=432%2C317&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Harijan Sevak Sangh \" width=\"432\" height=\"317\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: HSS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Founded in:<\/strong> The Harijan Sevak Sangh was founded<strong> in September 1932<\/strong> in Pune.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Founded by:<\/strong> Mahatma Gandhi<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Formation: <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>It originated from events surrounding the Second Round Table Conference of 1931,<\/strong> where <strong>Mahatma Gandhi opposed separate electorates for the depressed classes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>British Communal Award of 1932 l<\/strong>ed Gandhi to undertake a fast unto death in Yerwada\u00a0 Jail.<\/li>\n<li>This <strong>resulted into Poona Pact <\/strong>ensuring representation through reserved seats.<\/li>\n<li>These events created <strong>nationwide social awakening against untouchability, led to formation<\/strong> of the Harijan Sevak Sangh.<\/li>\n<li>It was\u00a0first named <strong>All India Anti Untouchability League,<\/strong> later it was renamed to\u00a0<strong>All India Harijan Sevak Sangh<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Mahatma Gandhi<strong> personally wrote the Constitution of the Harijan Sevak Sangh.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Objectives of the Sangh<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It works for the <strong>removal of untouchability from society.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It <strong>promotes education, sanitation, health care, and social equality<\/strong> among marginalized communities.<\/li>\n<li>It<strong> seeks to integrate Harijans into the mainstream<\/strong> <strong>of national life<\/strong> with dignity and self-respect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Current status:<\/strong>\u00a0Now it is working as <strong>an independent National level non-profit voluntary organization<\/strong> with its <strong>Branches in 26 States.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:\u00a0The Vice-President of India, Shri C.
