Times Now<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>It is also known as the\u00a0<strong>creative economy<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>knowledge-based economic activities<\/strong>\u00a0upon which the \u2018<strong>creative industries\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0are based.<\/li>\n<li>It is a\u00a0<strong>production model<\/strong>\u00a0where\u00a0<strong>goods and services have intellectual value<\/strong>\u00a0because they are the product of the\u00a0<strong>ideas and expertise<\/strong>\u00a0of their creators.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)<\/strong>\u00a0defines it as an\u00a0<strong>evolving concept<\/strong>\u00a0which builds on the\u00a0<strong>interplay between human creativity and ideas and intellectual property, knowledge and technology.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>first mandate on creative economies<\/strong>\u00a0came from the\u00a0<strong>UNCTAD XI\u2019s outcome document<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the\u00a0<strong>Sao Paulo consensus \u2013 in 2004<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Creative Industries under Orange Economy<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Advertising,\u00a0architecture,\u00a0arts and crafts, design, fashion, film, video, photography, music, performing arts, publishing, research &amp; development, software, computer games, electronic publishing, and TV\/radio<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>People\u00a0<strong>conceptualize and arrange this work<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>produce and\/or publish<\/strong>\u00a0it and\u00a0<strong>get paid<\/strong>\u00a0for it.<\/li>\n<li>This is\u00a0<strong>no different<\/strong>\u00a0from other production processes,\u00a0<strong>except<\/strong>\u00a0that the major input stems from original or copyrightable intellectual property (IP).<\/li>\n<li>According to\u00a0<strong>United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO),<\/strong>\u00a0the Orange Economy accounts for\u00a0<strong>3% of global gross domestic product (GDP)<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>30 million jobs worldwide<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>India&#8217;s Orange Economy<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>India\u2019s <strong>Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sector<\/strong> is a growing industry projected to <strong>require two million professionals by 2030<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Economic Survey 2025-26 has stated that <strong>revenue from gaming in 2024<\/strong> was around <strong>Rs 232 billion<\/strong>, while <strong>animation and VFX amounted<\/strong> to around <strong>Rs 103 billion.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Live entertainment<\/strong> accounted for <strong>more than Rs 100 billion in 2024<\/strong>, with strong spillovers to <strong>tourism and urban services<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Budget 2026-27:<\/strong> Union government has proposed to <strong>support the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, Mumbai<\/strong>, in setting up <strong>AVGC content creator labs in 15,000 secondary schools<\/strong> all over the country and <strong>500 colleges.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: India\u2019s creative industry found mention in Union Finance Budget speech, as she announced plans to boost the country\u2019s \u2018orange economy\u2019.
