{"id":35527,"date":"2018-10-31T18:00:31","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T12:30:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=35527"},"modified":"2018-10-31T18:00:31","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T12:30:31","slug":"no-data-from-china-on-brahmaputra-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/no-data-from-china-on-brahmaputra-this-year\/","title":{"rendered":"No data from China on Brahmaputra this year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-national\/no-data-from-china-on-brahmaputra-this-year\/article19520875.ece\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No data from China on Brahmaputra this year<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/a><b>Context<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ministry of External Affairs said under an agreement, China has committed to share annual hydrological data with India but the same has not been shared this year.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Sharing of hydrological data<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There exists a mechanism named India-China Expert-Level mechanism started in 2006 to share hydrological data during the flood season for Brahmaputra and Satluj rivers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs), the hydrological data is to be shared between May 15 to October 15 every year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From May 15 till now, India have not received any hydrological data from China.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The last meeting of the mechanism was held in April 2016.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The responsibility of sharing data is with China as it hosts the points of origin of the Brahmaputra and Satluj.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mechanism is necessity for regional cooperation to control floods.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No data from China on Brahmaputra this year Context The Ministry of External Affairs said under an agreement, China has committed to share annual hydrological data with India but the same has not been shared this year.
