Rajagopalachari<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Chakravarti Rajagopalachari, popularly known as Rajaji or CR, was a freedom fighter, social reformer, and statesman<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Early Life: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was born in December 1878 in Thorapalli in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Education<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> : He studied in his village school and later moved to Madras in 1896 to study law. He became a Bachelor of Law in 1899 and started legal practice in Salem.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Political Reform<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Local Leadership (1911\u20131917):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He was elected to the Salem Municipal Council in 1911 and became its Chairman in June 1917.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Swatantra Party (August 1959):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He founded the Swatantra Party to provide a constitutional opposition and support free enterprise with regulation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Opposition to Coercive Planning (mid-1950s):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He opposed coercive Soviet-type planning and supported democratic balance.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Role in Freedom Struggle<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Congress Participation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He attended the 1906 and 1907 sessions of the Indian National Congress.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Rowlatt and Non-Cooperation (1919\u20131920):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He supported the Rowlatt Satyagraha in 1919 and led the Non-Cooperation Movement in Tamil Nadu in 1920.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Salt Satyagraha:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In 1930, he led the march from Trichy to Vedaranyam and was arrested.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Quit India Differences (1942):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He differed with Gandhi and proposed negotiation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Rajaji Formula (April 1944):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He conveyed Gandhi\u2019s acceptance of the proposal to Muhammad Ali Jinnah.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Social Reform<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Temple Entry (July 8, 1939):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He supported Dalit entry into temples and introduced protective legislation..<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Anti-Discrimination Law:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He backed a Bill making discrimination punishable.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Hindi Policy:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He introduced Hindi in schools in 1938 but later opposed its imposition.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Social Upliftment:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He worked for the welfare of backward classes and promoted social equity.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Legacy: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was awarded the <\/span><b>Bharat Ratna in 1954.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Death: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He passed <\/span><b>away on 25 December 1972.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News- President Droupadi Murmu unveiled C.
