{"id":35685,"date":"2018-11-01T11:24:49","date_gmt":"2018-11-01T05:54:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=35685"},"modified":"2018-11-01T11:24:49","modified_gmt":"2018-11-01T05:54:49","slug":"unstable-power-a-big-barrier-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/unstable-power-a-big-barrier-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Unstable power, a big barrier in India\u2019:\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-business\/unstable-power-a-big-barrier-in-india\/article19477460.ece\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Unstable power, a big barrier in India\u2019<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Context:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Japan said unstable power supply was among the biggest investment barriers in India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Introduction:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The comment comes ahead of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe\u2019s India visit next month during which bilateral discussions on cooperation in energy sector would get priority.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Japanese Ambassador to India Kenji Hiramatsu, said \u201cJapan had committed to develop mega-industrial corridors and high-speed rail network in India through financial aid and technology transfer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was speaking at the inauguration of a solar power plant at Neemrana in Rajasthan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The plant is part of the $1000 billion-Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The plant is set up with the Japanese government\u2019s help.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The DMIC is an initiative under the \u2018Japan-India Special Strategic Partnership\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0These projects would require uninterruptible power supply<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Key points:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Hiramatsu cited the example of Mikul Corporation (a Japanese company) operating in Neemrana and manufacturing critical auto-components that directly affect automobile\u2019s performance and safety.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Background:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The problem of unstable power grid is one of the biggest \u00a0\u00a0investment barriers in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Japanese system using solar cells and micro-grid control technology could provide solution this problem<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Focus areas:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Both the countries can cooperate in areas such as environmental equipment for coal thermal power plant, grid stabilization, and pump up storage hydropower, smart telecommunication tower, solar irrigation pumps and bio-fuels.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Japan also wants Japanese solar cells to be used on rooftop of building in India\u2019s densely populated areas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Efforts are on to expedite the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor-being developed with Japanese help.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cAs part of the Japanese Industrial zones, work is on to set up townships with residential accommodation, educational institutes, playgrounds, hospitals, and other necessary social infrastructure for the Japanese\u201d , the Ambassador said.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Unstable power, a big barrier in India\u2019:\u00a0 Context: Japan said unstable power supply was among the biggest investment barriers in India.
