{"id":357846,"date":"2026-03-11T14:22:38","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T08:52:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=357846"},"modified":"2026-03-11T14:22:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T08:52:38","slug":"bio-pharma-shakti-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/bio-pharma-shakti-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Bio Pharma SHAKTI scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>News:<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Government has announced the Biopharma SHAKTI scheme with an outlay of \u20b910,000 crore over five years.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>About Bio Pharma SHAKTI scheme<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 474px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tse3.mm.bing.net\/th\/id\/OIP.KBvk1sNA1JX9IQ12xz6kLAHaE8?rs=1&amp;pid=ImgDetMain&amp;o=7&amp;rm=3\" alt=\"Biopharma SHAKTI\" width=\"474\" height=\"316\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><b>About:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Biopharma SHAKTI is a scheme<\/span><strong> to strengthen the domestic biopharmaceutical sector and enhance global competitiveness in biologics and biosimilars.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>Aim:\u00a0 <\/b>It aims t<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o <strong>promote domestic development and manufacturing of high-value biopharmaceuticals, reduce import dependence,<\/strong> and<strong> improve India\u2019s position<\/strong> in the global biologics supply chain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Financial Outlay:<\/strong> The scheme has outlay of \u20b910,000 crore over the next five years.<\/li>\n<li><b>Focus: <\/b>It focuses to <b>p<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>rovide early-stage innovation funding and equity support<\/strong> to help startups and industry move biopharma products from concept to development milestones.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Key features of the scheme:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the scheme, <\/span><b>three new<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education &amp; Research (NIPERs) will be established.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upgradation of <\/span><b>seven existing NIPERs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will take place to meet demand for skilled biopharma professionals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Large-scale clinical research ecosystem<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be created to strengthen advanced clinical trials in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will focus to strengthen the<strong> regulatory system by reinforcing the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO)<\/strong> and setting up a <\/span><b>Scientific Review Cadre<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for faster approvals.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>About\u00a0Biologics: <\/strong>They are medications <strong>made from biological materials,<\/strong> such as proteins, sugars, and genetic materials from humans, animals, or microorganisms.<\/li>\n<li><strong>About Biosimilars:<\/strong> They are medications that are<strong> similar to biologics<\/strong> but are <strong>usually less costly.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Government has announced the Biopharma SHAKTI scheme with an outlay of \u20b910,000 crore over five years.
