<strong>Gallup<\/strong>, the <strong>UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network<\/strong> and an independent editorial board.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>First edition:<\/strong> For the first time, the World Happiness Report was published in <strong>2012<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>World Happiness Report 2026:<\/strong> This is the <strong>14th<\/strong> edition of World Happiness Report.\n<ul>\n<li>The rankings are based<strong> on responses from around 100,000 people across 140 countries and territories<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Indicators:<\/strong> The rankings are based on a <strong>three-year average of each population\u2019s average assessment of their quality of life<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>Factors such as <strong>GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, having someone to count on, a sense of freedom, generosity and perceptions of corruption<\/strong> are also taken into account.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scale:<\/strong> Participants were asked to <strong>rate their lives on a scale of 0\u00a0 to 10.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Findings of the report<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Highest Position: Finland remains the world\u2019s happiest country<\/strong> for the ninth consecutive year.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nordic nations<\/strong>, including <strong>Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway,<\/strong> consistently rank among the highest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lowest Position:<\/strong> Countries experiencing conflict remain at the bottom, <strong>with Afghanistan again the least happy, followed by Sierra Leone and Malawi.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"585\" data-end=\"675\">For the second year in succession, <strong>no English-speaking nation is included in the top 10.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"678\" data-end=\"827\"><strong><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">United States<\/span><\/span> is placed 23rd, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Canada<\/span><\/span> 25th, and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">United Kingdom<\/span><\/span> 29th<\/strong> in the list.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"989\"><strong><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Costa Rica<\/span><\/span><\/strong> has made a<strong> notable jump to 4th position from 23rd in 2023<\/strong>, attributed to strong social ties and family relationships.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"992\" data-end=\"1117\"><strong>India Performance:<\/strong> Out of 147 countries, <strong><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">India<\/span><\/span> ranks 116th, showing a slight improvement from 118th in 2025.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1120\" data-end=\"1365\"><strong>Regional Differences:<\/strong> In <strong>parts of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Middle East<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">South America<\/span><\/span>,<\/strong> social media use is more positively linked to well-being, with youth satisfaction remaining stable despite high usage.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1546\"><strong>Excessive social media usage <\/strong>is <strong>associated with a significant decline in well-being<\/strong> among young people, especially teenage girls <strong>in English-speaking countries and Western Europe.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:
