{"id":358895,"date":"2026-03-25T14:34:34","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T09:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=358895"},"modified":"2026-03-25T14:34:34","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T09:04:34","slug":"world-air-quality-report-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/world-air-quality-report-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"World Air Quality Report, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>News: <\/strong><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">IQAir<\/span><\/span> recently released its 8th World Air Quality Report (2025) highlighting global air pollution trends, health risks, and monitoring gaps.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">About World Air Quality Report, 2025<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 520px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static.toiimg.com\/thumb\/msid-129785582%2Cimgsize-61310%2Cwidth-400%2Cheight-225%2Cresizemode-72\/129785582.jpg?resize=520%2C291&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"World Air Quality Report, 2025\" width=\"520\" height=\"291\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: TOI<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">World Air Quality Report evaluates <strong>pollution levels, based on annual average PM2.5.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Released by:<\/strong> It is published by Swiss air quality technology company <strong>IQAir.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Edition:<\/strong> This is the <strong>eighth edition<\/strong> of the report.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>first edition<\/strong> of this Report was released in<strong>\u00a02018.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The report analyzed data from monitoring stations<strong> across 9,446 cities in 143 countries, regions and territories.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Findings of the report related to India:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>India ranked as the <strong>sixth most polluted country in the world<\/strong> based on annual average PM2.5 concentration levels.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Loni in Uttar Pradesh<\/strong> was identified as the <strong>most polluted city in the world<\/strong> and <strong>Delhi ranked fourth globally<\/strong> in terms of PM2.5 pollution levels.<\/li>\n<li>Loni recorded an <strong>annual average PM2.5 concentration of 112.5 \u00b5g\/m\u00b3<\/strong>, which was <strong>nearly 23 percent higher than in 2024<\/strong> and <strong>more than 22 times higher than the guideline level recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kolkata<\/strong> has been placed <strong>49th in pollution ranks<\/strong> among 259 cities in India.<\/li>\n<li>Among the <strong>ten most polluted cities in the world<\/strong>, <strong>five cities were from India<\/strong>, namely <strong>Loni, Byrnihat, Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Ula<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Findings of the report related to World:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pakistan ranked<\/strong> as the<strong> most polluted country<\/strong>, followed by <strong>Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Chad, and Congo<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>top 25 most polluted cities<\/strong> in the world were located in<strong> India, Pakistan, and China<\/strong>, with<strong> India<\/strong> being home to <strong>three of the four most polluted cities globally<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>54 countries<\/strong> experienced an<strong> increase <\/strong>and <strong>75 countries <\/strong>recorded a <strong>decrease in annual average PM2.5 levels<\/strong>, <strong>two countries remained unchanged<\/strong>, and <strong>12 countries were newly represented<\/strong> in the dataset.<\/li>\n<li>Only <strong>13 countries and territories<\/strong> globally met the<strong> WHO annual PM2.5 guideline. India is not one among them<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Sources of pollution:<\/strong> The report highlighted that <strong>wildfires intensified by climate change <\/strong>played a major role in worsening global air quality in 2025.\n<ul>\n<li>Record biomass emissions from <strong>Europe and Canada <\/strong>contributed<strong> approximately 1,380 megatons of carbon<\/strong>, which significantly affected atmospheric pollution levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Suggestions<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The report emphasized that expanding<strong> access to real-time air quality monitoring data is essential <\/strong>for protecting public health and enabling communities to take informed action.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The report also highlighted that <strong>reducing emissions and addressing climate change are necessary<\/strong> steps to achieve long-term improvements in global air quality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: IQAir recently released its 8th World Air Quality Report (2025) highlighting global air pollution trends, health risks, and monitoring gaps.
