{"id":35914,"date":"2018-11-01T12:15:01","date_gmt":"2018-11-01T06:45:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=35914"},"modified":"2018-11-01T12:15:01","modified_gmt":"2018-11-01T06:45:01","slug":"centre-to-share-missing-bofors-files","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/centre-to-share-missing-bofors-files\/","title":{"rendered":"Centre to share missing Bofors files:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-national\/govt-to-share-missing-bofors-files\/article19393166.ece\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Centre to share missing Bofors files<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Context<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Public Accounts Committee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (PAC) of Parliament has asked the Defence Ministry to trace all missing files related to the Bofors scandal and share them with it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The focus of the committee<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The six-member sub-committee on defence, headed by BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, is eyeing into the long-pending non-compliance of certain aspects of the Comptroller and Auditor- General (CAG) report on the Bofors guns deal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PAC sturdily objected to the Ministry\u2019s proposition that certain paragraphs of the CAG report may be dropped as some files related to it are missing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was a stress on the need for top Ministry officials to trace and share missing files and notings related to the deal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the minutes of the meeting, top Defence Ministry officials agreed that the Ministry will share all the required details with the PAC.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Bofors scandal relating to alleged payment of kickbacks in procurement of howitzer artillery guns had triggered a massive political storm and led to the fall of the Rajiv Gandhi government in 1989.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Centre to share missing Bofors files: Context The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has asked the Defence Ministry to trace all missing files related to the Bofors scandal and share them with it.
