commissioned<\/span><b> in 2026.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is<\/span><b> part of the strategic weapons programme, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">falls under the<\/span><b> domain of the Strategic Forces <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and is<\/span><b> part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/indias-nuclear-triad\/\">India\u2019s nuclear triad.<\/a><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Features:\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The submarine features a<\/span><b> streamlined hull design<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which<strong> improves its stealth and acoustic performance underwater.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Size: It is slightly longer than 111.6 meters, with a width (beam) of 11\u201312 meters.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Propulsion:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is <\/span><b>powered by nuclear propulsion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and boasts a &#8220;virtually unlimited&#8221; operational range.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Displacement: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a<\/span><b> displacement of around 7,000 tonnes.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is<\/span><b> powered by an 83 MW pressurised water reactor (PWR).<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Armaments: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is<\/span><b> equipped with eight vertical launch tubes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can<\/span><b> carry either eight K-4 long-range missiles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a <\/span><b>range of 3,500 km or up to 24 K-15 missiles <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with <\/span><b>a range of 750 km<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>It has six 533 mm torpedo tubes used to fire heavyweight torpedoes for protection.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides India with an assured <\/span><b>second-strike capability, allowing retaliation even after a nuclear first strike.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its induction also allows India to maintain<\/span><b> \u201ccontinuous at-sea deterrence.\u201d<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Earlier commissioned <\/b><b>Submersible Ship Ballistic Nuclear (<\/b><b>SSBN):<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">INS Arihant (2016)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ins-arighat\/\">INS Arighaat<\/a> (August 2024).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>To be commissioned SSBN:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The <\/span><b>fourth SSBN of the Aridhaman class, often referred to as S4*,<\/b><span an operational speed of a<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pproximately <\/span><b>24 knots when submerged<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and between <\/span><b>12 and 15 knots<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when <\/span><b>surfaced.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Depth Capability:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It has an <\/span><b>estimated diving depth exceeding 300
