{"id":360159,"date":"2026-04-06T15:41:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T10:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=360159"},"modified":"2026-04-06T15:41:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T10:11:00","slug":"measles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/measles\/","title":{"rendered":"Measles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>News:<\/strong> Bangladesh launched an emergency vaccination campaign targeting more \u200bthan a million children as a fast-spreading measles \u200coutbreak sweeps across the nation.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">About Measles<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 266px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/HEJZQHlakAAtals?format=jpg&amp;name=small\" alt=\"Measles\" width=\"266\" height=\"333\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: My gov India<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Measles is an <strong>infection of the respiratory system, immune system and skin. <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is also known as <strong>morbilli.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Caused by:<\/strong> It is caused by the<strong> measles virus (MV),<\/strong> a <strong>paramyxovirus <\/strong>of the<strong> genus <em>Morbillivirus<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Paramyxovirus<\/strong> is a <strong>family of negative-strand RNA viruses<\/strong> in the order <strong>Mononegavirales<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transmission<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>highly contagious disease<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It spreads <strong>by contact with infected nasal or throat secretions<\/strong> (coughing or sneezing) or <strong>breathing the air<\/strong> that was breathed by an infected person.<\/li>\n<li>The virus remains<strong> active<\/strong> and <strong>contagious <\/strong>in the air or on infected surfaces for up to<strong> two hours.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Symptoms:<\/strong> It usually begins <strong>10\u201314 days <\/strong>after exposure to the virus.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Rash <\/strong>is the <strong>most visible symptom<\/strong> along with a <strong>running nose, cough, red and watery eyes and small white spots inside the cheeks.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>rash b<\/strong>egins about<strong> 7\u201318 days after exposure, <\/strong>usually on the<strong> face and upper neck.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It usually <strong>lasts 5\u20136 days <\/strong>before fading.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Who is at greater risk: <\/strong>Any <strong>non-immune person<\/strong> can become infected.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Unvaccinated young children and pregnant persons<\/strong> are at the highest risk of severe measles complications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Treatment: <\/strong>There is<strong> no specific treatment <\/strong>for measles.\n<ul>\n<li>Care focuses on<strong> relieving symptoms, staying hydrated, and eating a healthy diet.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Vitamin A supplements<\/strong> are given to children and adults to help prevent eye damage and blindness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Prevention:<\/strong> <strong>Community-wide vaccination<\/strong> is the most effective way to prevent measles.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vaccines used:<\/strong> Vaccines such as <strong>Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine and Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (MMRV) vaccine<\/strong> are used for prevention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>India&#8217;s effort toward prevention:<\/strong> Union Health Minister recently launched the<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/national-zero-measles-rubella-elimination-campaign-2025-26\/\"> National Zero Measles-Rubella Elimination Campaign 2025\u201326.\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Bangladesh launched an emergency vaccination campaign targeting more \u200bthan a million children as a fast-spreading measles \u200coutbreak sweeps across the nation.
