{"id":361256,"date":"2026-04-21T17:45:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T12:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=361256"},"modified":"2026-04-21T17:45:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T12:15:13","slug":"pradhan-mantri-gram-sadak-yojana-iii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pradhan-mantri-gram-sadak-yojana-iii\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News<\/strong>: The Union Cabinet approved continuation of PMGSY-III beyond March 2025 till March 2028 with revised outlay and extended timelines.<\/p>\n<h2>About Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_361259\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-361259\" style=\"width: 338px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-361259\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Source-PIB-2-1.jpg?resize=338%2C386&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III\" width=\"338\" height=\"386\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Source-PIB-2-1.jpg?resize=263%2C300&amp;ssl=1 263w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Source-PIB-2-1.jpg?w=724&amp;ssl=1 724w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-361259\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>third<\/strong> phase of <strong>rural road development<\/strong> focusing on <strong>consolidation and upgradation of existing routes under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Launched In:<\/strong> PMGSY was launched on<strong> 25 December 2000<\/strong> and <strong>PMGSY-III <\/strong>was launched in<strong> July 2019.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Nodal Ministry:<\/strong> The <strong>Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD)<\/strong> is the nodal ministry<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding Pattern:<\/strong> The funding pattern for the PMGSY-III will be <strong>60:40 between Centre and the States<\/strong> and <strong>90:10 for NE and Himalayan States<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim<\/strong>: PMGSY-III aims to <strong>consolidate 1,25,000 km<\/strong> of <strong>Through Routes and Major Rural Links<\/strong> to connect habitations with <strong>Gramin Agricultural Markets (GrAMs)<\/strong>, Higher Secondary Schools, and Hospitals while reducing transportation time and cost.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Revised Deadline:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Plain Areas:<\/strong> Completion of roads and bridges extended <strong>till March 2028.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Hilly Areas:<\/strong> Completion of <strong>roads extended till March 2028<\/strong> and <strong>bridges extended till March 2029.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Revised Outlay:<\/strong> \u20b983,977 crore, increased from \u20b980,250 crore.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pending Works Clearance:<\/strong> Works sanctioned before 31 March 2025 but not yet awarded are now allowed to be taken up for tender and award to ensure completion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Long Span Bridges (LSBs):<\/strong> A total of 161 Long Span Bridges, with an estimated cost of \u20b9961 crore, are approved for sanction and execution <strong>along already sanctioned road alignments.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Technology Use:<\/strong> The scheme promotes the use of <strong>green technologies<\/strong> such as <strong>waste plastic and cold mix technology in rural road construction.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Union Cabinet approved continuation of PMGSY-III beyond March 2025 till March 2028 with revised outlay and extended timelines.
