Together, they form the acronym for <\/span><b>Portal for Access to Archives and Learning.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Curated by: <\/b>It is curated by the<b> National Archives of India (NAI).<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It functions <strong>under the Ministry of Culture.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is still being developed, and more data is regularly added.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Mission: <\/b>It<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is<strong> to provide easy access to India\u2019s historical archives, which include around 7 million records.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of this effort, these records are <strong>being digitised to make them accessible in the modern era.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Purpose: <\/b>Its main purpose<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is<\/span><b> to make historical records easily accessible to people across the world.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Researchers, students, and curious learners can use it <strong>to study original sources that provide insights into events, people, and social changes.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>How it works:\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides <\/span><b>access to an index of about 7 million records <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through its \u201cReference Tools\u201d collection.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To make access easier, <strong>users can request copies through the Page on Demand (POD) service<\/strong> for records that are already digitised.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For records listed but not yet digitised,<strong> users can use the Digitise on Demand (DOD) service.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If <strong>records are only in the reference tools and not yet in the database,<\/strong> users can contact the <strong>research room for assistance.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Coverage:<\/strong> The archival collections available through this portal cover a <strong>wide range of historical records<\/strong> preserved by the NAI.
