the Caribbean.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1561\"><strong>Currently, <\/strong>it is the turn of <strong>Latin America and the Caribbean,<\/strong> where different countries may support different candidates based on regional interests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Role:<\/strong> The United Nations Secretary-General is the <strong>chief administrative officer<\/strong> who manages the <strong>UN Secretariat and carries out tasks given by major UN bodies<\/strong> like the General Assembly, Security Council, and Economic and Social Council.\n<ul>\n<li>The Secretary-General can<strong> also bring important global issues,<\/strong> especially those affecting <strong>peace and security<\/strong>, to the attention of the Security Council.<\/li>\n<li>They can <strong>appoint special representatives, called Personal Envoys,<\/strong> to handle specific conflicts or issues.<\/li>\n<li>The Secretary-General is often <strong>called the world\u2019s \u201cchief diplomat.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1561\"><strong>Main candidates vying to become the United Nations Secretary-General 2026:<\/strong>\u00a0Michelle Bachelet, Macky Sall, Rafael Grossi and Rebecca Grynspan\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1561\">The new Secretary-General will<strong> take office on January 1, 2027.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;
