left;\"><strong>Mission for Cotton Productivity<\/strong> is an initiative to <strong>address bottlenecks, declining growth, and quality concerns in India\u2019s cotton sector<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">It aligns with the<strong> 5F vision (Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign)<\/strong> of the Government.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Aim:<\/strong> It aims to<strong> equip farmers with cutting-edge scientific and technological support,<\/strong> enabling higher productivity, superior fibre quality, and improved resilience against climatic and pest-related challenges.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Implementation agency: <\/strong> It will be implemented by the <strong>Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the Ministry of Textiles.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Other institutions involved:<\/strong> It involves <strong>10 institutes of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), one institute of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and 10 centres of All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRPs) on Cotton<\/strong> operating in different State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) of major cotton growing states.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Duration: <\/strong> The duration of the Mission is <strong>from 2026\u201327 to 2030\u201331.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Budget outlay:<\/strong> It has an outlay of<strong> Rs. 5659.22 crore<\/strong> for Self-Sufficiency in Cotton and boosting global competitiveness.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Major Focus Areas:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It focuses on the development of <strong>High-Yielding Variety (HYV) seeds<\/strong> that are resistant to diseases and pests.<\/li>\n<li>It<strong> promotes climate-resilient seeds, pest-resistant seeds, and advanced production<\/strong> and protection technologies to improve cotton productivity.<\/li>\n<li>It aims <strong>to scale up improved cotton production technologies<\/strong> such as High Density Planting System (HDPS), Closer Spacing (CS), Integrated Cotton Management, and the cultivation of Extra Long Staple (ELS) Cotton<strong>\u00a0through State Governments, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and State Agricultural Universities (SAUs).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It seeks to <strong>improve cotton quality through capacity building,<\/strong> modernisation of ginning and processing factories, and adoption of best processing practices.<\/li>\n<li>It also focuses on strengthening<strong>\u00a0cotton testing infrastructure by establishing modern facilities,<\/strong> standardised systems, accredited testing centres, and global benchmarking standards.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>promotes<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/union-textiles-minister-launches-website-of-kasturi-cotton-bharat\/\"> Kasturi Cotton Bharat<\/a><\/strong> for branding, traceability, and certification in order to position Indian cotton as a premium and sustainable product in global markets.<\/li>\n<li>It<strong> empowers farmers<\/strong> through digital integration of mandis,\u00a0<strong> promotes cotton waste recycling<\/strong> and <strong>reduction in environmental footprint<\/strong> across the cotton value chain.<\/li>\n<li>It focuses on<strong> the diversification of India\u2019s fibre base<\/strong> by promoting natural fibres such as flax, ramie, sisal, milkweed, bamboo, and banana.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Coverage:\u00a0<\/strong> Initially, <strong>140 districts will be focused in 14 States<\/strong> through State Department of Agriculture and ICAR for upscaling the technologies and<strong> 2000 ginning\/ processing factories.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Target: <\/strong> It envisages to:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Accomplish the<strong> production of 498 lakh bales (170 kg lint each) of cotton<\/strong> by enhancing lint productivity from 440 kg\/ha to 755 kg\/ha by 2031.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Approximately<strong> 32 lakh farmers will benefitted. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Promotion of Kasturi Cotton Bharat<\/strong> for traceability and certification<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Targeting trash reduction &lt;2%\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Promotion of natural fibres<\/strong> like
