<\/span><b>Western Assam at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Boundary<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It is bordered to th<\/span><b>e north by Bhutan\u2019s Royal Manas National Park <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and on the<\/span><b> east and west<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the <\/span><b>Manas Tiger Reserve.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is part of the<\/span><b> core zone of the Manas Tiger Reserve.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has <\/span><b>six national and international designations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: World Heritage Site, National Park, Tiger Reserve (core), <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/manas-biosphere-reserve\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biosphere Reserve<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (national), Elephant Reserve (core) and Important Bird Area.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Note: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UNESCO recognised<\/span><b> it as a Natural World Heritage Site in 1985.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Established: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was originally a <\/span><b>sanctuary in 1928<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 It was<\/span><b> established as a National Park in 1990.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Area:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It covers an area of<\/span><b> 850 sq km.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Height: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its elevation ranges from<\/span><b> 60 to 1,500 meters (200 to 4,900 feet) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">above sea level.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Tribe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Indigenous tribes, such as the Bodo, live in and around the park.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>River associated: <\/b>The<b> Manas river <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">flows through the park.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It possesses rich biodiversity due to its<\/span><b> location at the junction of the Sub-Himalayan Bhabar Terai and Himalayan subtropical broadleaf forests.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Vegetation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It contains <strong>four major vegetation types<\/strong>: <\/span>Sub-Himalayan light alluvial semi-evergreen forests, East Himalayan moist and dry deciduous forests, low alluvial savanna woodlands, and Assam Valley semi-evergreen alluvial grasslands.<\/li>\n<li><b>Flora: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than<strong> 540 plant species have been recorded here<\/strong>, including important trees such as <\/span><b>Jamun, Indian Bay Leaf, Silk Cotton Tree, Haritaki, Wild Guava, and Jarul.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hoolong trees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are th<\/span><b>e dominant plant species,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and other important species include <\/span><b>Amari, Dewa Sam, Himolu, and Garjan.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Fauna: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is home to rich and diverse wildlife, with<\/span><b> 55 mammal species, 36 reptiles, and 3 amphibians.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Major animals found here include <\/span><b>the tiger, Asian elephant, one-horned rhinoceros, gaur, wild buffalo, swamp deer, and Gangetic dolphin.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Rare species<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as the<\/span><b> golden langur, clouded leopard, fishing cat, pygmy hog, hispid hare, and red panda<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are also found in the park.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Migratory birds such as<\/span><b> river chats, forktails, cormorants, and ruddy shelducks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> visit the park seasonally.\u00a0 <\/span><b>Hornbills, Finn\u2019s baya, and Bengal florica<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n are also found here, along with abundant butterflies and
