none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SEHAT Stands for<strong> Science Excellence for Health Through Agricultural Transformation<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <strong>national mission-mode programme<\/strong> designed to translate agricultural advancements into tangible health outcomes for the people of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Launched by: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been jointly launched by<\/span> the\u00a0<b>Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Objective: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its objective is to build a framework for \u2018Healthy Food, Healthy Farms and a Healthy India.\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Aim: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aimed at building <strong>an integrated farming system to improve human health<\/strong> with a <strong>focus on traditional knowledge<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>It strategically aligns <strong>agricultural research and innovation with national priorities<\/strong> in nutrition, preventive and promotive healthcare, non-communicable diseases, farmer well-being, and One Health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"leftbox-default\"><strong>Features<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><b>Biofortification:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It would <strong>promote biofortified crops,<\/strong> healthy livestock and nutrient-rich fish products, encourage diverse, safe and balanced diets across age groups, and reduce occupational risks for agricultural workers.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Food as Medicine:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It will also have a <strong>target-based approach<\/strong> to develop food-based solutions to address malnutrition, obesity, diabetes, hypertension and micronutrient deficiencies.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Combating Dual-Disease Burden: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It seeks to address India\u2019s growing <\/span><b>dual disease burden<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where the country faces both <\/span><b>undernutrition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>overnutrition-related diseases<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the same time.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"leftbox-default\"><b>Five Priority Areas<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mission focuses on<\/span><b> five priority areas of national significance:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Development and evaluation of biofortified and nutrient-dense crop varieties <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to address malnutrition and improve nutritional status<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Strengthening integrated farming systems <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to promote dietary diversification, enhance farm incomes, and build resilience\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Addressing occupational health risks among agricultural workers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through targeted, evidence-based interventions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Advancing agriculture-enabled strategies for the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through the promotion of functional foods and nutritionally superior crop varieties<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Strengthening One Health preparedness<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through integrated surveillance,
