{"id":36272,"date":"2018-11-02T11:38:16","date_gmt":"2018-11-02T06:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=36272"},"modified":"2018-11-02T11:38:16","modified_gmt":"2018-11-02T06:08:16","slug":"delhi-has-ulterior-motives-asserts-beijing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/delhi-has-ulterior-motives-asserts-beijing\/","title":{"rendered":"Delhi has \u2018ulterior motives\u2019, asserts Beijing:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-national\/delhi-has-ulterior-motives-asserts-beijing\/article19237132.ece\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Delhi has \u2018ulterior motives\u2019, asserts Beijing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span>\u00a0<b>(Beijing blames Delhi of having hidden motives)<\/b> <b>Context<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China said on Friday that \u201culterior motives\u201d prompted India to include the tri-junction with Bhutan in the Sikkim stand-off.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China stressed that New Delhi\u2019s acceptance of the 1890 Sino-British treaty on the boundaries in the region should not variate with the passage of time.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The issue of Tri \u2013 Junction point<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The so-called tri-junction point as the name implies is a point instead of a line or an area, claims Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li>Geng said that the road being built in China had nothing to do with the Special Representatives on the boundary in 2012 over the tri-junction.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Geng referred to the agreement between Great Britain and China relating to Sikkim in 1890 stating that the Sikkim section of the boundary commences from the east of Mount Gipmochi.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accorifing to Mr Genng, the illegal trespass by the Indian troops took place at the Sikkim section of the India-China boundary, 2,000 metres away from the Mount Gipmochi.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China affirmed that the issue had \u201cnothing to do with the tri-junction point\u201d and China had not breached the 2012 agreement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When asked to provide exact coordinates of the tri-junction, Greg said he had no information on it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Geng also sought to justify China\u2019s road building, saying that it was not part of the Doklam area.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Geng also questioned India\u2019s stand that Doklam being part of the strategic tri-junction also known as the Chicken\u2019s Neck.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Delhi has \u2018ulterior motives\u2019, asserts Beijing: \u00a0(Beijing blames Delhi of having hidden motives) Context China said on Friday that \u201culterior motives\u201d prompted India to include the tri-junction with Bhutan in the Sikkim stand-off.
